Baaiegatstrand
UnofficialBaaiegatstrand is the naturist area of Het Twiske, a large recreation area of lakes, meadows and woodland just north of Amsterdam, between Zaandam and Purmerend, in the municipality of Oostzaan. Since 2011 the naturist site has been on an island reached by a wooden bridge, after it moved from the more remote Wezenlandstrand. It covers about 1.7 hectares, mostly sunbathing lawns. Sand runs along about half of the bay side (it was shortened in 2020), and a small new sand beach faces the Stootersplas lake. The bay is separated from the lake by a timber barrier and has a gently sloping bottom with a roped swimming zone up to 1.4 m deep and many water plants; on the Stootersplas side the bottom drops off steeply and suits experienced swimmers only. Tall planting hides the area from view except at the entrance. Facilities include a toilet, bins, bicycle racks, a volleyball court and two boules pitches, and dogs on a lead are allowed on the rear part. A New Year's dip is held on 1 January at 14:00.
Bloemendaal aan Zee
UnofficialBloemendaal aan Zee is the beach of the municipality of Bloemendaal, a wide North Sea sand beach west of Haarlem and Overveen, at the end of the Zeeweg and backed by the dunes of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The central section is lined with well-known beach pavilions and gets very busy on summer days. The nude area lies north of the pavilions, on the stretch reached from the Duin en Kruidberg beach entrance, where a sign at the entrance announces the nude beach. In 2009 the municipality designated two short textile stretches either side of that entrance, inside the nude area, which the Dutch naturist federation NFN protested; nude bathers therefore spread out a little away from the path. The beach is broad, fine sand with dunes behind and no shade. Bathing water quality is rated excellent, but North Sea currents can be strong, so swim near lifeguard posts.
Bussloo Naturist Beach
OfficiallyBussloo is a large recreation lake in Voorst municipality, in the triangle between Apeldoorn, Deventer and Zutphen, run by the operator Leisurelands. Its naturist beach, on the south-west shore at entrance 5 next to the De Kuiter beach pavilion, is signposted and is the largest inland naturist beach in the Netherlands. It covers about 6 hectares, down from about 8 before a 2020 reorganisation. Most of it is lawn for sunbathing, with three small sandy beaches at the water's edge. When the site was reduced, the operator agreed with the Dutch naturist federation (NFN) to enlarge the two remaining beaches and add a new one north of the kiosk. The swimming area is marked by a floating line at 1.4 m depth, and the lake bed slopes gently, which suits children. Near the kiosk there are a playground, toilets and showers, so the beach draws many naturist families as well as couples. Leisurelands describes it as a prize-winning naturist beach. Bussloo also has a large thermal spa on the lake (Thermen Bussloo), but that is a separate venue.
FKK Castricum pad doodstil
UnofficialThe naturist beach at Castricum aan Zee lies on the North Holland coast north of the main Castricum beach, backed by the dunes of the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. Nude recreation takes place over about 1.85 km between beach poles 46.00 and 47.85, an area shown on the information boards at the beach entrances but not signed on the sand itself. A smaller patch between poles 45.50 and 45.75, about 100 m before the Hazenduin beach entrance, is tolerated and is often the busiest part. It is a wide, open North Sea beach of fine sand with a gradually sloping bottom and no shade. There are no facilities on the naturist stretch itself; the beach pavilions Club Zand and De Vrijheit are each about 800 m away at either end. There is no lifeguard on this stretch; the nearest lifeguard post is at Castricum aan Zee. Dogs are not allowed.
FKK naturisten /naakt strand van hier af richting het zuiden
UnofficialKatwijk's nude beach is the quiet stretch of sand south of Katwijk aan Zee in South Holland, continuing into the northern beach of neighbouring Wassenaar. Nude recreation runs from beach pole 89.250 southward; the name of the record, roughly 'naturists from here toward the south', describes it well. The beach is not officially designated, so there are no signs, but the Dutch naturist federation NFN lists it as suitable for nude recreation and it has a steady naturist following. It is a wide, clean North Sea sand beach backed by the high Berkheide dunes, far from the resort boulevard, and rarely crowded; visitors rate the space and the swimming and some call it a good beach for first-time naturists. On quiet days it is wise to settle near other nude visitors rather than alone. There are no facilities on the nude stretch, not even bins according to some reviews; the beach pavilions are back at the southern end of the boulevard. Some reviewers report litter and men behaving inappropriately in the dunes, so stay on the beach.
Hoek van Holland
UnofficialHoek van Holland is Rotterdam's seaside district, at the mouth of the Nieuwe Waterweg where ships enter the port. The main beach, around the Badweg and Zeekant, is wide, busy and well equipped. The naturist section is on the quieter north side, towards 's-Gravenzande: a signposted 500 m stretch of North Sea beach between the Stuifkenszand and Vlugtenburg entrances, at beach posts 116.12 to 116.62. It is wide, fine sand that slopes gently into the sea, with new dunes behind it from the 2008 coastal reinforcement. Nudity is no longer allowed in the dunes, which are fenced off. There are no facilities on the nude stretch itself apart from bins and a small rescue post. A handful of overnight beach cabins stand on it. The Elements Beach pavilion is about 150 m away and BeachLine about 700 m south. On hot days Hoek van Holland draws big crowds from Rotterdam, and traffic on the single access road, the N220, can back up. The metro to Hoek van Holland Strand, opened in 2023, has made it much easier to reach without a car.
IJmuiden Beach
OfficiallyIJmuiden's nude beach is on the very wide North Sea beach of IJmuiden aan Zee in the municipality of Velsen, North Holland, just south of the long piers at the mouth of the North Sea Canal. It lies inside Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, which runs south from here to Zandvoort. The naturist section is in beach zone 4 (recreation beach), between beach pole 58 and the municipal boundary with Bloemendaal, where it carries straight on into Bloemendaal's beach. NFN BlootKompas lists it as an official nude beach. The beach is huge: visitors lie against the foot of the dunes, and the walk from there to the waterline alone takes 10 to 15 minutes. From the steep dune edge the view takes in the ships queueing for the canal and the piers. Recreation in the dunes is allowed up to the fence. There are no facilities on the nude beach itself; beach pavilion Beach Inn is about 500 m away. Dogs are reportedly banned but the rule is not enforced, and in high season dogs from the clothed beach sometimes stray onto the nude section.
Monster Beach
OfficiallyMonster's nude beach is in the municipality of Westland, South Holland, on the North Sea coast between Ter Heijde and The Hague's Kijkduin. Nude recreation is allowed from beach pole 108.5 north to the municipal boundary with The Hague, where it continues seamlessly as the Kijkduin nude beach. The original Monster nude beach, between the Schelppad beach entrance and the Watertoren, disappeared in 2011 when the Zandmotor was built, a giant hook-shaped sand nourishment project; the naturist federation NFN negotiated to keep nude recreation on its northernmost part. The result is an unusual, very wide and still-changing beach with a lagoon that dries out at low tide and shifting currents, so take care when swimming. People sit either against the dunes or about 500 m further out toward the waterline. Walkers and kitesurfers pass through, but it stays quiet. The dunes behind, Solleveld and Kapittelduinen, are protected Natura 2000 land. There are no facilities on the nude beach; pavilions are at the Molenslag entrance in Monster and at beach access 1 on the Hague side. Some visitors say the start of the nude section is not clearly marked.
Naaktstrand Bergen
OfficiallyThe Bergen nude beach lies between Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl aan Zee in the municipality of Bergen, North Holland, in front of the Schoorlse Duinen, one of the widest dune areas on the Dutch coast, managed by Staatsbosbeheer. It is an official nude beach designated by the municipality between beach poles 29.5 and 31.5. Bergen colour-codes its beach poles, and the naturist zone is marked by pink poles (orange marks activity beaches and yellow sunbathing beaches). In practice nude use starts around pole 32, just north of the Noorderlicht beach pavilion, about 500 m before the official zone, and NFN says it has agreed with the municipality that people there are generally left alone when no beach events are on. It is a wide, clean sand beach with good swimming and fine dune walking behind. Visitors describe a calm, respectful atmosphere, while some note many clothed walkers near the pavilions. There are no facilities on the nude stretch; pavilions Noorderlicht on the Bergen side and Paal 29 on the Schoorl side are the nearest.
Naaktstrand Brouwersdam
OfficiallyThe Brouwersdam nude beach is on the south-west tip of Goeree-Overflakkee in South Holland, on the North Sea coast at Ouddorp, toward the Brouwersdam that closes off Lake Grevelingen. It occupies the stretch between beach poles 18.00 and 18.75, about 300 m north of beach access 12, 't Gorsje. In July 2025 the municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee formally designated it as a naturist beach in its local bylaw (APV); the same decision bans nude recreation elsewhere in the municipality, which the naturist federation NFN objected to in 2023 and 2025. Signs were announced. The beach is wide sand, with calm, clean water and plenty of shells, so water shoes help; seaweed sometimes piles up at the tideline. It is quiet and only a short walk from the access point, and visitors find sheltered spots near the dunes. Textile walkers pass along the waterline and some find the nude section small. There are no facilities on the nude stretch; toilets and showers are at the beach access. Beachclub 't Gorsje burned down in August 2024 and was being rebuilt in 2025.
Naaktstrand Callantsoog
OfficiallyCallantsoog's nude beach is the oldest official nude beach in the Netherlands. People had been sunbathing nude behind the Zwanenwater dunes since the mid-1950s, and on 27 April 1973 the Callantsoog council voted five to two to allow it, after two people had volunteered to be fined in 1971 for a test case. The original section was 370 m; it now covers about 2.3 km of North Sea beach between beach poles 14.5 and 16.8, south of the village and in front of the Zwanenwater nature reserve, in the municipality of Schagen. Signs mark the zone, and in practice nude sunbathing extends a little beyond both ends, towards pole 14.1 and from the Sint Maartenszee side near pole 17.25. It is a wide sand beach with a sloping sea floor. Stone groynes run out every 200 m and are hidden at high tide, which makes swimming near them dangerous. There is no lifeguard on the nude section; the nearest post is at pole 13, and Sint Maartenszee's lifeguards cover the beach about 1 km south. Since 2017 the beach has been an off-leash area for dogs. The Zilte Zucht pavilion has moved north, outside the nude zone, and is clothed only.
Naaktstrand Delft
InformalDelft's nude bathing spot is not on the coast. It sits on the north-east shore of the Grote Plas, the swimming lake in the middle of the Delftse Hout recreation park at the edge of the city. The nude area is small, about 0.6 hectares. It is a sunbathing lawn, not a sand beach, and the public footpath that loops around the lake runs straight through it. There is a campsite on the south side of the lake. In the water the bottom stays shallow for a long way, and a floating line marks off a section about 1.5 m deep. Stone bank protection makes the edge steep, so it suits small children less well. Sharp freshwater mussel shells lie along the shoreline, which makes water shoes worth packing. Egyptian geese are common, and their droppings on the grass are a frequent complaint. The spot has a contested history. The municipality designated it as a nude area in 1984 and withdrew the designation in 2013, citing sexual nuisance. Regular visitors kept coming and some were fined. The courts eventually acquitted them, and since July 2014 nudity has been tolerated again on the original site, although there are no signs.
Naaktstrand Domburg
UnofficialDomburg, on the north-west coast of the Walcheren peninsula in Zeeland, is one of the two oldest seaside resorts in the Netherlands. Its nude beach lies about 1 km outside the village, behind the golf course. Nude recreation is limited to the stretch between beach posts 16.4 and 16.9, and the zone is signposted. Going into the dunes is not allowed. The nude stretch is about 500 m of sand that slopes gently into the North Sea. Rows of wooden breakwater piles stand on the beach, and swimming close to them is dangerous because of the currents they create. There is no lifeguard on the nude section. The nearest beach post is at the Noordduine entrance, about 450 m from the western end of the zone. Facilities are close by for a nude beach: a toilet at the dune crossing and the Txiki beach pavilion both stand about 40 m away, and beach cabins are rented by Noordduine. The bathing water is monitored as an official swimming site under the name 'Domburg, overgang Golflinks Oost'. The beach is small but gets busy.
Naaktstrand Egmond Zuid
UnofficialThe Egmond-Binnen nude beach is a 1.75 km stretch of North Sea sand south of Egmond aan Zee, in the municipality of Bergen, North Holland. It lies between beach poles 41.00 and 42.75, roughly between the Middenweg and Vlewoseweg beach accesses (strandslag 35 and 36), with the dunes of the Noordhollands Duinreservaat behind it. That reserve is what makes this beach so quiet: there is no road to the sea, so everyone arrives on foot or by bike after a long ride or walk through the dunes. Bergen marks its beach zones with coloured pole heads, and here the poles are pink and boards indicate the nude section. Nude use also spills over onto a short 250 m activity strip between poles 40.75 and 41.00, which used to be part of the nude beach, and onto the quiet sand between strandslag 36 and 37. The beach is wide, sandy and gently shelving. Dogs are not allowed. A beach pavilion sits about 550 m beyond the northern boundary; there are no facilities on the nude section itself.
Naaktstrand Gaasperplas
UnofficialThe Gaasperplas is a former sand-extraction lake in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, dug to supply sand for building the Bijlmermeer and later made the centrepiece of the Gaasperpark, which hosted the 1982 Floriade. A small naturist area of about half a hectare lies on the north side of the lake, next to the park, and has been signposted for nude recreation since around 2004-2005 (sources differ on the year). It is a sunbathing lawn rather than a beach: there is no sand, but there is plenty of shade from surrounding trees, plus bike racks and bins. The shore here is not an official bathing site and the water is not tested at this spot, so swimming is at your own risk. Signs permit nudity from 1 May to 1 October. In early June the Amsterdam Open Air festival takes over the park and the area is closed for around two weeks; nude sunbathers then use the old naturist spot on the south-east bank, where a wooden edge drops to about a metre and the water deepens quickly. The municipality has long-running plans to add official swimming spots on the north shore, one just north of the naturist area, so check signs on arrival.
Naaktstrand Groede
UnofficialThe naturist beach of Breskens and Groede lies on the North Sea coast of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, about 3 km south-west of Breskens toward Groede, in the far south-west of the Netherlands. Nude recreation is permitted on a stretch of about 430 m between beach-pole rows 20 and 23, marked by signs; when it is busy naturists also spread onto the stretch between poles 19 and 20. Signs at the beach entrance state that nudity is not allowed on the rest of the beach. It is a wide sandy beach with a gently sloping bottom, divided by groynes of wooden posts; swimmers should keep clear of the breakwater posts. The Van Houten beach bar sits on the naturist beach itself, with beach cabins for hire through the operator, though clothing is expected on its terrace; Beachhouse 25 is just to the south-west. It is one of the busiest naturist beaches in the Netherlands, helped by many visitors from nearby Belgium. There is no lifeguard on this stretch.
Naaktstrand Groene Ster
UnofficialDe Groene Ster, also called De Kleine Wielen, is a roughly 1,000-hectare recreation and nature area on the eastern edge of Leeuwarden in Friesland, with woods, walking paths, sunbathing lawns and a series of lakes. Its nude beach is a 3.2-hectare island in the southern of two water compartments, divided by a dam carrying a cycle path, and is reached by bridges from the west side. Nude recreation has been allowed in part of the park since 1980; when the area was redesigned in 1995 the nude section moved to the island, and over the years naturists came to use all of it. The beach combines a strip of sand at the water's edge with lawns and a grassy embankment, and trees give shade. The water shelves gently from 0 to about 1.7 m, making it suitable for weaker swimmers, but the peaty bottom limits visibility and sharp freshwater mussels can cut feet. An earth bank and ditch separate the island from the cycle path. In summer an ice-cream seller visits on sunny days, and a New Year's Day dip is held here every 1 January. Dogs are not allowed.
Naaktstrand Groote Keeten
UnofficialThe Groote Keeten nude beach is on the North Sea coast of North Holland between Callantsoog and Julianadorp, south of Den Helder. Signs mark the official nude section between beach poles 8.4 and 9.4, though in practice nude sunbathing stretches from about pole 7.75 to 9.6. The signed section is about a kilometre of sand on what is described as one of the widest beaches in the province; the much older and better-known Callantsoog nude beach lies a few kilometres to the south. Stone groynes (strekdammen) run out into the sea roughly every 200 m. These are hidden at high tide and create dangerous currents: swimming within 25 m of a groyne is forbidden. There is no lifeguard on the nude section; the nearest post is at the Groote Keeten beach entrance. Dogs are welcome, and the whole nude stretch is an off-leash area. The non-naturist Klavertje Vier pavilion at strandslag 8 is about 500 m away. Members of regional naturist clubs, such as the Vrije Vogels from Midwoud, are among its visitors.
Naaktstrand Kijkduin
OfficiallyThe Kijkduin nude beach is The Hague's southern naturist beach, on the North Sea shore south of the Kijkduin resort and directly in front of the Zandmotor, the huge hook-shaped artificial sand peninsula built in 2011. The municipality permits nude recreation from beach pole 108 southward toward Monster, reached from the Kijkduin strandslag 1 access; naaktstrandje.nl describes the marked section as about 385 m of sand around pole 108, with signs at its edges. To the south it runs straight into the Monster nude beach in neighbouring Westland, which was moved here when the Zandmotor was built. Since then a lagoon in front of the beach falls almost dry at low tide, so there is no direct swimming, and nude sunbathers also spread out onto the Zandmotor itself. The area is a designated kite zone, and on windy days it fills with kitesurfers, which makes the lagoon dangerous for swimmers. The fenced dunes behind the beach are off limits. Dogs are allowed. The BLOW Beach House pavilion and kite school is just beyond the northern boundary.
Naaktstrand Maarsseveense Plassen
UnofficialThe Maarsseveense Plassen are two former sand-extraction lakes of about 20 and 70 hectares, dug in the 1960s, between Utrecht and Maarssen. The paid Strandbad on the north-west side of the Grote Plas has a fenced naturist section of about 1.2 hectares with its own entrance next to the SpaSereen thermal complex. It consists of sunbathing lawns sheltered by trees and a small sandy beach with children's play equipment; swimming is limited to a roped-off area, about 1.6 m deep, reached from jetties, and there is a separate children's zone. A local association, the Naturisten Vereniging Maarsseveense Plassen, is linked to the site. Separately, two small lawns hidden in the woods on the north-east side of the lake have been tolerated for nude use for years; they have no facilities and the lake bed drops away steeply there. Bathing water quality has been classed as poor in recent seasons, so check the advice before swimming.
Naaktstrand Maasvlakte
OfficiallyThe Maasvlakte nude beach is on the North Sea side of the Maasvlakte, the land reclaimed for the Port of Rotterdam at the far western tip of South Holland. Container terminals and wind turbines are part of the view. Since the beach reopened in 2012 there has been a signed nude zone between the clothed bathing beach and the sports beach further north. It started at 2,500 m and was cut to 500 m. In 2023 it was extended by 500 m northward, so it now runs about 1 km. It begins at the stairs from car park P1, where you turn right (north). The beach is wide and sandy, backed by dunes where the sand is soft, and the seabed shelves gently. The water is an official bathing-water site (Tweede Maasvlakte) with summer quality checks. Visitors are a mix of couples, families and single people. Since 2024 the rooftop terrace of the Portlantis harbour experience centre has overlooked the area, and the federation has raised the possibility that the nude section may have to move. Bring your own food and drink: on the beach there is only a snack container at a car park and a kiosk a few hundred metres away.
Naaktstrand Neeltje Jans
OfficiallyNeeltje Jans is the former construction island in the middle of the Oosterschelde storm-surge barrier, between Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland in Zeeland. It is now a nature reserve within Oosterschelde National Park and is also home to the Deltapark Neeltje Jans attraction. The beach on the North Sea side is about 2 km long. Its middle part is a signed nude zone, which begins at beach access 84 (De Slufter) and runs south toward access 83 (Roompotsluis). It was enlarged in 2026, so from the southern car park you now step almost straight onto the nude section. The sand is wide, but at high tide the beach becomes much narrower. Behind it is a slufter, a tidal inlet that floods the land behind the dunes at spring tides. The dunes are a protected nature area and closed to visitors. The middle of the beach is often almost empty. The southern tip, where kitesurfers launch, gets busier on windy days and when lessons are running. There are no facilities in the nude zone itself. The nearest beach pavilion, Atlantis, is about a kilometre north. In season an ice-cream cart passes along the beach.
Naaktstrand Nieuw Haamstede
OfficiallyThis nude beach is on the western tip of Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland, the Kop van Schouwen. It lies between the holiday village of Nieuw-Haamstede and Westenschouwen, inside a Natura 2000 dune reserve. The signed nude section runs from about beach pole 12.5 to pole 14.8, a stretch of roughly 2 to 2.3 km. It starts at the beach crossing 't Oude Vuur and runs south. In 2018 it was extended about 800 m southward. That extension was compensation for the 'Smart use of sand' pilot, which let the dunes here drift naturally and created blowouts in the foredunes. The beach is long but not always wide. At low tide it becomes very broad. The southern part, by the dunes, is quiet and good for birdwatching. There are no facilities on the nude section and no lifeguard. The nearest pavilion, De Strandloper, is just over a kilometre north. An ice-cream vendor sometimes passes. Warning signs mention currents and a sandbar, so take care when swimming. It is generally a calm, uncrowded beach, a little busier at weekends near the dune crossing because a walking route follows the beach.
Naaktstrand Noordwijk, Duindamseslag
OfficiallyDuindamseslag is the southern of Noordwijk's two nude beaches on the South Holland coast, north of the town (the other is Langevelderslag, further north). The nude section lies between kilometre poles 78 and 79.5. It starts about 500 m south of the De Zeespiegel beach pavilion at the Duindamseslag beach access. The poles stand back in the dunes, which makes them hard to see from the sand. Signs mark the nude zone on the beach itself. The beach is a wide North Sea sand beach backed by the Hollands Duin dune and woodland area. Young dunes near the waterline give some shelter. It is one of the quieter nude beaches in the region and at times has hardly any naturists on it. Clothed walkers, dog walkers and joggers pass along the waterline, and horse riders appear in the evenings. There are no facilities on the nude stretch and no lifeguard. The nearest food, drink and toilets are at De Zeespiegel, about a kilometre away.
Naaktstrand Noordwijk, Langevelderslag
OfficiallyLangevelderslag is the northern of Noordwijk's two designated nude beaches on the South Holland coast, between Noordwijk and the Zandvoort municipal border; the other, Duindamseslag, lies further south. The official nude zone runs between beach poles 73 and 74 and is signed both on the sand and at beach access 28. Until 2008 the zone was longer, and in practice nude bathers still use the stretch north toward pole 71.5 at the Zandvoort boundary, giving roughly a kilometre of nude beach. Beyond that lies the Noordvoort beach reserve and then, after a short clothed stretch, Zandvoort's own nude beach. The beach is wide North Sea sand with a gently sloping bottom, backed by the dunes of the Hollands Duin nature area, and it is one of the quieter stretches on this coast. There are no facilities or lifeguards on the nude section; food, drink, a beach club and the nearest lifeguard post are at the Langevelderslag beach entrance. Expect clothed walkers and dog walkers along the waterline.
Naaktstrand Vuren
UnofficialNaaktstrand Vuren is a small, tolerated nude beach on the south bank of the Waal, about 3 km east of Gorinchem near Fort Vuren. It lies in the Hondswaard, a roughly 1 km floodplain owned by Staatsbosbeheer that stretches from the dike at Fort Vuren to the former Heuff brickworks. The nude spot is one of three small sandy beaches between the river's groynes, about 350 m of sand with a strip of rough grassland behind it. A former clay-pit lake ringed by bushes screens it from the road, so it feels hidden. Nudity is only accepted on the sand: after Staatsbosbeheer threatened fines in 2014, talks with the NFN settled that the meadow, which has a public footpath, stays clothed. Galloway cattle and Konik horses graze the floodplain and sometimes wander onto the beach; leave them alone. The shore has sharp shells and water plants, and the Waal is a busy shipping river with strong currents between the groynes, so paddling is safer than swimming. There are no facilities.
Naaktstrand(je) Brielse Meer
OfficiallyThe Brielse Meer nude beach is a designated naturist area on the north shore of the Brielse Meer (also called Brielse Maas), a former arm of the Maas closed off in 1950 that is now a long recreation lake north of Brielle in South Holland. The site, on the Zoom Oost section off the Visserijweg near Zwartewaal, covers about 1.5 hectares: a large lawn with scattered trees for shade, two small sandy beaches for getting into the water, a volleyball court and a table tennis table. The water is shallow (about 1.5 m) with a gently sloping bottom, and a buoy line marks the swimming area; nude swimming is only allowed inside it, as boats pass close by. Regular visitors set up a volunteer foundation, SONBM, which helps maintain the site and occasionally asks for donations, and in 2011 they successfully fought cuts to mowing. There is a toilet building with a tap, but no food or drink, so bring your own.
Naturisten strand / naakt Park Vlietlanden
OfficiallyThe Vlietland nude beach is a designated naturist area in the Vlietland recreation area, a 130-hectare lake between The Hague and Leiden on the edge of Voorschoten and Leidschendam-Voorburg. It occupies part of the north-west shore, separate from the clothed recreation beaches. The site is about 2.7 hectares, mostly a grassy lawn shaded by trees, with two openings through the reeds where small sandy patches lead into the water. The lake gets deep quickly and there is no marked swimming zone; the nude area is not an official bathing site, so swimming is at your own risk (the nearest monitored bathing water is the Surfstrand Noordwestoever, about 500 m away). A toilet block stands on the site; food and drink are at a kiosk by the clothed beach a few minutes' walk away. The ground can be soggy in spring. The crowd is mostly older, with some couples and families.
Nude beach westduinpark
OfficiallyThe Westduinpark nude beach is the northern of the two naturist stretches on The Hague's Zuiderstrand, the long North Sea beach between Scheveningen and Kijkduin. It sits below the Westduinpark, a protected dune landscape that separates the city's southwestern neighbourhoods from the sea. The signed nude section is about 500 m long, between beach poles 104 and 105, and is reached from beach entrance (strandslag) 8. Textile beach continues on both sides, so clothed walkers pass along the waterline. The coast here was widened with sand during the 2008-2011 reinforcement works, so the beach is broad, flat sand with a gently sloping sea floor, and most of the old stone groynes are now buried. There is no shade and no lifeguard on the nude section; the nearest lifeguard post is near entrance 7. What makes the spot unusual for the Netherlands is the @theBeach pavilion at entrance 8, which keeps its north-facing terrace for nude guests while the rest of the building requires clothing. Reports from 2025 say the nude zone was widened and the dunes behind it fenced off, so sunbathing is now on the beach only. The crowd is mixed in age, with couples and families as well as single visitors.
Nudist Beach Oostkapelle

It lies east of Oostkapelle village, behind the Oranjezon dunes, a nature reserve managed by Het Zeeuwse Landschap. Nude recreation is allowed from beach crossing 72 (Oranjezon) west to beach pole 10.9, a stretch of roughly 2.3 km marked with signs. East of crossing 72, after a short textile stretch, comes the separate Vrouwenpolder nude section. The beach is wide, clean sand with a gently sloping seabed. Rows of breakwater poles stand in the surf, and swimming near them is dangerous. There is no lifeguard on the nude stretch. The nearest lifeguard post is at beach entrance 66 (Duinweg), about 700 m beyond the western boundary. Toilets and a shower are on the beach. The pavilions Aloha Beach at crossing 72 and Zeecafé near the start of the section serve clothed guests only. Nudity in the dunes is banned and checked, and in 2023 Zeeland municipalities banned sex in the dunes after complaints. Dogs are not allowed on this stretch. The naturist mini-campsite Hermitage is between Domburg and Oostkapelle.
Nudist area Geestmerambacht
OfficiallyThe Geestmerambacht nude area is an inland naturist spot on the Zomerdel, the recreation lake in the Geestmerambacht park between Alkmaar and Langedijk (now part of the municipality of Dijk en Waard) in North Holland. It occupies a small peninsula on the east shore of the lake at swimming bay 4, covering about one hectare of open lawns with a short strip of sand, and is marked with signs. The swimming area in front is unusual: part of it is enclosed by rock fill and only about 0.8 m deep, which suits small children but not real swimming, while outside it the shore drops steeply and the lake reaches around 20 m deep. A floating jetty lets stronger swimmers reach deeper water. The bay is an officially monitored bathing water, with a buoy line at 1.4 m. Facilities are minimal: one toilet block, bins and bike racks; food and drink are only at the clothed car-park areas to the north and south. The Zomerdel lake was redeveloped in 2007, and the wider recreation area has been earmarked for further changes. Wooded areas around the lawns have a reputation for cruising, which NFN raised with the park operator in 2020, leading to vegetation being cut back.
Nudist beach Kralingse Bos
OfficiallyThe Kralingse Bos nude beach is a small official naturist area on the Kralingse Plas, the lake at the centre of Rotterdam's 200-hectare Kralingse Bos park, about 4 km northeast of the city centre. It is the last section of the Strandbad Kralingse Plas on the north side of the lake, next to the textile beach and separated from it by a wooden fence and bushes, with one access path and signs at the entrance. The area is small, about 0.4 hectares, made up of a strip of sand and a fenced, grassy sunbathing meadow behind the shrubs. The beach looks across the water to the Rotterdam skyline. The lake bottom slopes gently and the marked swimming area, bounded by a buoy line, is no deeper than 1.6 m; visibility is under a metre, and the textile end has shells and debris underfoot. The swim zone is an officially monitored bathing water. There are no facilities on the nude beach itself apart from bike racks and bins; a toilet is about 500 m away and a kiosk at the car park. The ground was often damp, so it was cleaned and raised at the end of 2021 after NFN Open & Bloot raised maintenance with the park manager. Crowds are mostly men, and cruising in the bushes is a recurring complaint.
Nudist beach Noord Aa
OfficiallyThe Noord Aa naturist beach is on the Zoetermeerse Plas, a lake dug for sand extraction, in Noord Aa, Zoetermeer's largest recreation area. A 2016 redesign moved the naturist area from its old spot between the general beach and the children's beach. Since 2017 it has been next to the children's beach, separated from it by an earth embankment about 1.7 m high, fenced and planted with young trees. Sources disagree on which side of the lake this is (south-east or north-east), so follow the signs. The naturist area has two parts. The main family section has lawns, a strip of sand and its own swimming area. The roped-off zone is at most 0.7 m deep, gentle enough for children, and the water deepens quickly past the buoy line at 1.5 m. A separate, smaller section with a lawn but no beach or water is a designated gay meeting area, kept apart from the family section. The family section has a toilet building with outdoor showers, a foot tap and bins. Restaurant Aa-zicht and a snack bar are on the textile beach about 700 m away. Waterbirds are plentiful, and visitors often mention goose droppings on the grass.

Nudist beach Rockanje
OfficiallyThe Rockanje nude beach is on the North Sea coast of Voorne, south-west of Rotterdam, in the municipality now called Voorne aan Zee (formerly Westvoorne). It lies north-west of Rockanje village, behind the dunes of the Voornes Duin nature reserve. The official nude section runs about 800 m between beach poles 10.6 and 11.4, near the Groene Punt viewpoint, and is marked with signs. In practice some people already go nude from around pole 11.8. The boundaries have shifted over the years, and regulars report small changes from season to season. The beach is sand with a gently sloping seabed. Sandbanks offshore keep the water calm. Goeree-Overflakkee is visible to the south and the port of Maasvlakte to the north. Much of the dune edge behind the section is a bird breeding area within a Natura 2000 site, so stay on the beach. There are no facilities on the nude section and no lifeguard. The nearest lifeguard post is at Eerste Slag, about 1.5 km beyond the southern boundary. Salsa Beach Club and another pavilion are at the Tweede Slag beach entrance. Dogs are not allowed on the section.
Nudist beach Texel - Den Hoorn
OfficiallyThe Den Hoorn nude beach is on the North Sea coast of southern Texel, south of the Hoornderslag beach entrance near the village of Den Hoorn. Texel's bylaw allows nude recreation between beach poles 8 and 10.13, a signposted stretch of up to about 1.9 km. One guide notes that in practice the nude part ends around pole 8.8. To the south lies De Hors, a wide, quiet sand plain at the island's southern tip. Officially it is reached only along the nude beach or by a few dune paths. The beach is wide sand with a sloping seabed. This section has groynes (stone breakwaters). Swimming near them is risky because of strong currents and sharp mussels and barnacles that can cause deep cuts. There is no lifeguard on the section itself. The post at the Hoornderslag entrance is about 300 m away. Pavilion Paal 9 is at the entrance, around pole 10, and a beach shop and snack stand are on the sand. Dogs are allowed on a leash, and nudity in the dunes is not allowed. The Loodsmansduin campsite, about 2 km away, has a fenced naturist field of about 100 pitches.
Nudist beach Texel De Cocksdorp
OfficiallyThe De Cocksdorp nude beach is on the North Sea side of northern Texel, the largest Wadden island. Texel's bylaw allows nude recreation on the beach between beach poles 26.4 and 27.45, a signposted stretch of about 1,050 m. It is about 25 km from the ferry terminal. The setting is natural and quiet: a wide sand beach with a gently sloping seabed and the dunes of Duinen van Texel National Park behind it. The Slufter, a tidal inlet nature area, is about 1.4 km north, and in the beach season the route to it runs through the nude beach. The nearest pavilion, Paal 28, is about 650 m away at the Krimweg beach entrance and is clothed only. There is a small beach shop and snack stand on the sand. There is no lifeguard on the nude section. The nearest post is about 500 m away at the beach entrance. Nudity in the dunes is not allowed. Dogs are allowed on a leash. Texel's second nude beach is at Den Hoorn in the south, and the naturist section of the Loodsmansduin campsite is near Den Hoorn.
Nudist beach Zevenhuizerplas
OfficiallyThe Zevenhuizerplas nude beach is in the Rottemeren recreation area, just north of Rotterdam in the municipality of Zuidplas. The area is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The Zevenhuizerplas is a sand-extraction lake that has recently been roughly doubled in size. The naturist beach is on the north side of the old lake, at the western end of the recreation beaches. Since the 2019 season it has been separated from the textile beach by a hedge-topped earth bank, and it is marked with signs. It is a lawn with a small strip of sand, surrounded by trees and bushes, which make it sheltered and fairly private. The swimming area is marked with a buoy line at 1.5 m depth over a sloping bottom. Outside it the lake deepens quickly, and the water can suddenly turn cold. There is a mobile toilet and bins, but no other facilities on the naturist section. Restaurant De Strandgaper is by the car park on the textile beach, about 500 m away (it was being renovated at the time of a recent report), and there is a kiosk. The beach is small, so it fills up on hot days. Dogs are not allowed.
Renesse Strand
OfficiallyThe Renesse nude beach is on the North Sea coast of Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland. It is west of the resort of Renesse toward Nieuw-Haamstede, between the beach entrances Watergat and Duinhoevepad, behind the Verklikkerduinen nature area. Nude recreation is officially allowed between beach poles 6.94 and 7.99, a signposted stretch of about 1 km. In practice people stay nude up to around pole 8.99, except near the busy beach entrance at 7.99. The beach is unusually wide, about 600 m, sand with no breakwaters and a gently sloping seabed. A dangerous sandbank off the nude section floods at high tide, and many warning signs mark it. The low dunes on the landward side can also be used, but parts are closed in the breeding season for plovers and oystercatchers. There are no facilities on the nude section. Pavilion De Zwaluw is about 340 m east at Watergat. Clothed visitors often use the waterline in front of the nude area. Renesse itself is known as a resort for young people, but the nude stretch is quiet. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Scheveningen Naaktstrand
UnofficialThe Hague's nude beach lies on the Noorderstrand, north of the busy Scheveningen resort and its pier, beyond the Zwarte Pad beach-club strip and running toward the border with Wassenaar and the Meijendel dunes. The Hague city council adopted a stretch for nude recreation on 13 June 1975, making it one of the oldest nude beaches in the Netherlands; the original section was only about 250 metres, and today nude recreation is permitted between beach poles 98.0 and 95.7, about 2.3 km. The Hague side is signposted as far as pole 97.4, the municipal border; in practice nudity continues onto the unsigned Wassenaar part, but not near the beach entrances. The beach is wide North Sea sand with dunes behind and a series of breakwaters (strekdammen), some barely visible at low tide; swimmers must keep at least 25 metres from them. There is no lifeguard on the nude section, and the nearest rescue post is about 900 metres south. Two beach pavilions stand on the stretch. Nude and clothed visitors mix, and the zone between the pavilions is often mostly clothed, so naturists tend to head further north. Dogs are allowed on The Hague part but not on the Wassenaar part.
Spaarnwoude
OfficiallyThis nude area sits inside the Spaarnwoude recreation area, the large green belt between Amsterdam, Haarlem and Velsen. It lies in the Buitenhuizen polder on the southern side of the park, off the Genieweg near the Zorgvrij information farm, on land that was once a waste tip. It is not a sea beach. The naturist section covers about 1.7 hectares, mostly mown lawns around a small pond of roughly 60 by 120 metres with a narrow strip of sand at the water's edge. Shrubs and trees shelter it and keep it apart from the clothed recreation areas, and there is a fair amount of shade. The pond is shallow, about 1.4 metres. Swimming water monitoring has listed it, but blue-green algae warnings have been issued in some summers, including June 2026, so check the current advice before swimming. A small toilet block with a shower serves the site. It closed for budget reasons in 2012 and reopened in 2016. On weekdays it is a quiet sunbathing meadow. The regulars are mostly older people and solo men, and traffic noise from the A9 and planes from Schiphol can be heard.
Strandslag Falga (ook naaktstrand)
OfficiallyThis North Sea naturist beach is on the coast south of Den Helder, toward Julianadorp, in the dune belt of the Kop van Holland. The nude section runs between beach poles 4.09 and 5.0, the stretch between the Falga beach entrance (strandslag 4) to the north and De Zandloper (strandslag 5) to the south, and it is signposted. The beach is wide, with pale fine sand backed by high dunes and open sea in front. Groynes reach into the water about every 200 metres. They show at low tide, and swimming close to them is dangerous because of the currents. There is no shade or natural shelter, and no toilets or showers on the nude stretch itself. The nearest facility is the Zee van Tijd beach pavilion, which you pass if you come from the Zandloper side, and an ice cream cart sometimes works the beach in summer. Visitors say it is spacious and clean, with a mix of couples, families and solo visitors. It is calm outside hot weekends, and on warm summer days it fills up.
Twaalfmorgen Beach
UnofficialTwaalfmorgen is a small lakeside recreation area at the south-east corner of the Reeuwijkse Plassen, the lake district near Gouda in South Holland. The front of the area is for clothed visitors, and the back, beside the day harbour, has been a nude recreation area since 2013. Nudity had been tolerated there for longer, and the municipality then designated it in consultation with the Dutch naturist federation NFN. It is not a sandy beach but a long, narrow lawn of about 180 m, up to 10 m wide, screened by a high reed belt on the water side and tall bushes behind, so it is sheltered and has plenty of shade. Swimming is from two steps into water about 1.5 m deep with a soft peaty bottom and limited visibility; it suits confident swimmers only. The water has no official bathing-water status, so quality is not monitored. Nude recreation is allowed from 30 April to 1 October, between 9:00 and 20:00. Dogs are not allowed, and the usual rules apply: no photographs without permission and no sexual activity.

Zandvoort Nudist Beach
UnofficialZandvoort's nude beach occupies the southern end of the resort's long North Sea beach, beyond the last beach entrance at the end of Boulevard Paulus Loot, in the stretch locals know as South Beach or 'Amsterdam Beach'. The town council designated it for nude recreation in 1975, and it is often described as the most visited nude beach in the Netherlands. Nude recreation is permitted between beach poles 68 and 70; on busy days nudity often begins a little before the official start. The beach is wide sand with a gently sloping seabed and high dunes behind. A row of seasonal pavilions stands at the start of the section, including Bodhi Beach, Manii Beach, Paal 69 and Outpost; the long-running Adam & Eva, the last pavilion that allowed nudity on its terrace, has closed, and the current owners do not allow nude recreation on their terraces. In 2026 the four pavilions were put up for sale together. Beyond pole 70, the former southern part of the nude beach became the Noordvoort beach reserve at the end of 2022, where sitting, lying and swimming are not allowed. There is no lifeguard on the nude section, and a kitesurf zone near pole 68 is unsafe for swimmers.
Zilverstrand Almere
OfficiallyZilverstrand is a lakeside beach on the Gooimeer at the south-western edge of Almere, near the Hollandse Brug that carries the A6 across to Huizen and Het Gooi. The naturist beach is a signposted section in the middle of the strip: from the car park you first pass a stretch of clothed beach, then reach the nude area, with another small clothed section and a mooring jetty beyond it towards the bridge. A newly paved footpath marks its northern edge. The current naturist beach, around 1.5 hectares, opened in May 2018 after the A6 widening project rebuilt the shoreline; it sits on reclaimed lake bed just in front of the old naturist beach and is roughly a third of its former size. It combines a broad sand beach with a partly flat, partly sloping lawn edged with grass and reeds, and a few young trees that give little shade. The swimming area is a monitored official bathing water, marked by a buoy line, with a gently sloping bottom reaching about 1 metre at the line. Staatsbosbeheer manages the site but maintenance is minimal, so it can look overgrown, and the busy A6 is audible. Dogs are not allowed on the naturist beach.
Zonneweide Amsterdamse Bos
OfficiallyThe Zonneweide (sun meadow) is a nude sunbathing lawn in the eastern part of the Amsterdamse Bos, the large 1930s park-forest on the southern edge of Amsterdam that lies mostly within Amstelveen, just north of the A9 motorway. It is not a beach: there is no swimming water, only an open grassy clearing of roughly 1.6 to 2 hectares enclosed by woodland and reached by a single path, which makes it sheltered and private. The forest edges give shade, and part of the lawn around free-standing oak trees is left unmown as a wildflower zone that visitors are asked not to enter. Facilities are minimal: a drinking-water tap and waste bins, with no toilets, showers or catering; the ground was regraded in 2020 to improve drainage. The Amsterdamse Bos describes it as one of the few city parks in the Netherlands where nude recreation is officially allowed. Aircraft from Schiphol and traffic on the A9 can be heard. In 2014 the meadow was threatened with closure because of sexual nuisance; after talks with the NFN it stayed open, and visitors are asked to challenge unwanted behaviour.

Pitches have electricity, and there is a laundry, an electric-car charger and a motorhome waste point. Restaurant De Oase, a snack bar and a small supermarket cover food, and there are tennis and boules courts, a sports field, table tennis, a youth room and a playground, with an animation team for all ages in high season. The park holds the Dutch naturist federation's Prettig Bloot label for respectful, safe naturism. Day visitors are welcome to use the beach and pool. Winter camping is possible, though most facilities run from April to October.

Naturistenterrein De Molen (Amsterdamse Lichtbond)
Informal / TraditionalDe Molen is the island grounds of ALB, an Amsterdam-based naturist association founded in 1954, in the Ankeveense Plassen lake and fen area at Ankeveen, near Bistro de Molen. It is a members' terrain for day recreation only; there is no camping or overnight stay. The island is uninhabited and has no phone line. Facilities reported in 2025 are a changing room, a fully equipped kitchen, a barbecue, a natural swimming pool, a playground, a table-tennis table, a trampoline, kayaks and a jeu-de-boules pitch. It is open from April to October, from sunrise to sunset, and is usually quiet on weekdays. The membership has fallen from around 400 in the 1980s and 1990s to about 200, with an average age above sixty, and in 2025 the chairman said the club was keen to attract younger families. Nude photography is not allowed. Newcomers are allowed to keep swimwear on during their first visits while they get used to it.

It is run by the Thermen Resorts group and, like most Dutch sauna complexes, is textile-free: bathers use the saunas, steam rooms and pools nude and wear a bathrobe in the restaurant and lounges. The resort says it has no swimwear days at this location. Facilities are spread over indoor and outdoor areas by the water. Listings and visitor accounts describe around 15 saunas and steam cabins ranging from about 40°C to 95°C, including a fireplace sauna, a floating banya sauna on the lake, a Marrakesh-themed sauna, and newer additions such as a graduation (salt) sauna, an infrared cabin and a four-element steam room. There is a large outdoor pool and a natural swimming pond, foot baths on a pier, relaxation rooms, a beauty centre, the recently renovated Restaurant Lumé, and hotel rooms for overnight stays. Children under 12 are not admitted and 12-18s must be accompanied. The naturist beach on the neighbouring Maarsseveense Plassen is a separate venue with its own entrance.

As usual in Dutch sauna complexes, the sauna and bathing areas are used nude on normal days, with towels used to sit on and bathrobes worn in the restaurants and lounges. The resort sets aside swimwear days, every Monday and the last Sunday of each month, when swimwear is compulsory and separate changing rooms are used. It is open every day of the year apart from New Year's Day. It is a mixed, mainstream wellness venue rather than a naturist club, so nudity here is a matter of sauna custom rather than naturist membership.

Laws & local rules in Netherlands
Nude recreation in designated areas is legally permitted under Article 430a of the Wetboek van Strafrecht (Dutch Criminal Code). Municipalities formally designate suitable locations for nude recreation, creating a unique legal framework where public nudity is technically restricted but carefully regulated through local government designation.
