About Naturisten strand / naakt Park Vlietlanden
The Vlietland nude beach is a designated naturist area in the Vlietland recreation area, a 130-hectare lake between The Hague and Leiden on the edge of Voorschoten and Leidschendam-Voorburg. It occupies part of the north-west shore, separate from the clothed recreation beaches. The site is about 2.7 hectares, mostly a grassy lawn shaded by trees, with two openings through the reeds where small sandy patches lead into the water. The lake gets deep quickly and there is no marked swimming zone; the nude area is not an official bathing site, so swimming is at your own risk (the nearest monitored bathing water is the Surfstrand Noordwestoever, about 500 m away). A toilet block stands on the site; food and drink are at a kiosk by the clothed beach a few minutes' walk away. The ground can be soggy in spring. The crowd is mostly older, with some couples and families.
Getting there
Drive into the Vlietland recreation area and use the free car park, under 1 km from the beach, then cross the footbridge on foot. Cyclists can ride to the bike racks at the beach. The nearest bus stop (Voorschoten, Vlietwijk) is about 2.5 km away. The site is described as accessible for people with reduced mobility, though some reviewers find the path difficult.
What visitors say
Visitors value the shaded lawn and easy access from The Hague and Leiden, and describe a mostly older, relaxed crowd. Opinions differ on toilet cleanliness. Several reviews report unwanted sexual behaviour and harassment by some men, which naturist organisations have addressed; others report no problems. Bringing something waterproof to put under a towel is a common tip in spring.
