About Naaktstrand Bergen
The Bergen nude beach lies between Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl aan Zee in the municipality of Bergen, North Holland, in front of the Schoorlse Duinen, one of the widest dune areas on the Dutch coast, managed by Staatsbosbeheer. It is an official nude beach designated by the municipality between beach poles 29.5 and 31.5. Bergen colour-codes its beach poles, and the naturist zone is marked by pink poles (orange marks activity beaches and yellow sunbathing beaches). In practice nude use starts around pole 32, just north of the Noorderlicht beach pavilion, about 500 m before the official zone, and NFN says it has agreed with the municipality that people there are generally left alone when no beach events are on. It is a wide, clean sand beach with good swimming and fine dune walking behind. Visitors describe a calm, respectful atmosphere, while some note many clothed walkers near the pavilions. There are no facilities on the nude stretch; pavilions Noorderlicht on the Bergen side and Paal 29 on the Schoorl side are the nearest.
Getting there
From Bergen aan Zee, use beach access 24 (Bergen aan Zee Noord), with car and bike parking on the C.F. Zeiler Boulevard about 1 km away, and walk north. From Schoorl aan Zee, use beach access 22 (Schoorl aan Zee Zuid), the quieter side: bike parking about 700 m away, car parking at Hargen aan Zee about 2.5 km. Buses from Alkmaar stop at Bergen aan Zee (Verspyckweg), about 1.5 km away. Long sand walk; poor wheelchair access. Entry free.
What visitors say
Reviewers rate Bergen highly for naturist-friendliness, cleanliness, location and swimming, describing a wide, quiet beach in beautiful dune scenery. The weak points are facilities, food and toilets, poor accessibility and long walks from parking or the bus. Opinions differ on crowds: some find many clothed people near the pavilions, others a relaxed and uncrowded nude section.

Legal context
Under Dutch criminal law (art. 430a Sr) nudity is only an offence in places not suitable for it or where a municipality has banned it, so nude recreation is lawful on designated beaches and on quiet beaches judged suitable. The municipality of Bergen has designated poles 29.5 to 31.5 as a nude beach, marked with pink poles; NFN reports an understanding that nude use from pole 32 is tolerated when there are no events (NFN BlootKompas, 2026).
Naturism at Naaktstrand Bergen sits under Netherlands's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
