About Terme Olimia

Terme Olimia is a large commercial thermal resort at Podčetrtek in eastern Slovenia, beside the Sotla river on the Croatian border, run by the Olimia group. It is a mainstream family spa with hotels, apartments and a campsite grouped around several water complexes: Termalija family wellness, the adults-oriented Wellness Orhidelia and the outdoor Aqualuna thermal park. Its naturist interest is the Sauna World (Svet savn) inside Termalija, which the resort describes as the largest in Slovenia at 1,550 m². It has eight saunas, including Finnish, steam, aroma and meditation rooms, with the biggest Finnish sauna holding about 100 people, plus two rest areas, two cold plunge pools, a Kneipp path and a wellness bar, with regular infusion rituals. The resort's own sauna pages have described a nudist terrace with its own pool. As in most Central European sauna complexes, the sauna area is used nude and mixed, while the thermal pools, slides and the rest of the resort require swimwear. The sauna world opens year-round from midday on weekdays and from 10:00 at weekends, staying open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Legal context & local rules

Mixed nude sauna bathing is normal and lawful in Slovenian spas; nudity is limited to the sauna world and its terrace, not the general thermal pools.

Slovenia maintains a permissive legal environment toward naturism inherited from its Yugoslav heritage. While no explicit statute legalises nudity, cultural tolerance and the operation of major naturist spa facilities (Terme Olimia, Terme Laško) indicates de facto legal acceptance in designated venues and traditional naturist locations.

Bohinjsko Jezero

Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest natural lake, a glacial lake about 4 km long inside Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps, with cold, very clear water that reaches only about 20-22 °C at the height of summer. The shore is mostly narrow gravel and pebble beach backed by forest and meadow, with the main bathing spots at Ribčev Laz in the east, along the road on the south shore, and at Ukanc at the west end. Naturist use is linked to the west end: Camp Bohinj (formerly Camp Zlatorog), a lakeside campsite at Ukanc near the Vogel cable car, is listed in a Slovenian camping directory as catering to both textile and FKK guests with an FKK beach, while an international camping portal places a nudist beach about 5 km from the camp. Neither source says exactly where on the lake the nude area is, so expect a small, unmarked area used discreetly on a quieter stretch of shore rather than a signposted naturist beach. The lake is busy with families, swimmers and kayakers in July and August, and national-park rules restrict boats and activities on the water. Early mornings and the shoulder season are calmest.

Camping Smlednik (naturist section)

Camp Smlednik is a riverside campsite at Dragočajna, near the village of Smlednik, about 20 km north-west of Ljubljana on the road towards Kranj. It sits directly on the Sava and is mainly a textile site with pitches, bungalows, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, a supermarket and a children's playground. Part of the grounds is set aside for naturists: an enclosure beside the river with its own small beach, its own toilet and shower block, and electric hook-ups. One guide puts this area at roughly 30 by 100 metres with room for about fifteen units, so it is small and fills up in summer. It is one of the few naturist camping options in inland Slovenia and makes a quiet base for Ljubljana, Škofja Loka, Kamnik and Kranj. The season runs from May to mid-October.

FKK Camp Mali Raj

FKK Camp Mali Raj (Kamp Mali raj, 'little paradise') is a small naturist camp at Dolenje Polje, between Straža and Soteska near the spa town of Dolenjske Toplice in Lower Carniola, south-east Slovenia. It sits on the left bank of the Krka river and was set up as the first motorhome stop in Slovenia reserved exclusively for naturists. It is run by the naturist society Društvo naturistov Mali raj, founded in 2010, which belongs to the Slovenian naturist federation and the International Naturist Federation. The secured, lit site takes up to about 20 vehicles on grass and paved pitches, mostly motorhomes, with water, waste disposal, free toilets and showers, paid electricity, Wi-Fi, a washing machine and bread service. A sauna runs in winter. Guests can swim in the river, and a riverside footpath is reserved for naturists; fishing, boating, hiking and cycling are all close by, and the thermal spas of Dolenjske Toplice and Straža are a few kilometres away. Nudity is expected on site. Visitors consistently describe it as quiet, shady and very clean, with welcoming hosts. Dogs are allowed. The association also organises walks, meetings and work days for members.
