About Bohinjsko Jezero
Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest natural lake, a glacial lake about 4 km long inside Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps, with cold, very clear water that reaches only about 20-22 °C at the height of summer. The shore is mostly narrow gravel and pebble beach backed by forest and meadow, with the main bathing spots at Ribčev Laz in the east, along the road on the south shore, and at Ukanc at the west end. Naturist use is linked to the west end: Camp Bohinj (formerly Camp Zlatorog), a lakeside campsite at Ukanc near the Vogel cable car, is listed in a Slovenian camping directory as catering to both textile and FKK guests with an FKK beach, while an international camping portal places a nudist beach about 5 km from the camp. Neither source says exactly where on the lake the nude area is, so expect a small, unmarked area used discreetly on a quieter stretch of shore rather than a signposted naturist beach. The lake is busy with families, swimmers and kayakers in July and August, and national-park rules restrict boats and activities on the water. Early mornings and the shoulder season are calmest.
Getting there
Drive or take the bus from Bled or Ljubljana to Ribčev Laz at the east end of the lake, then continue 4.5 km along the south-shore road to Ukanc; buses run along the lake in summer and a tourist boat crosses the lake to Ukanc. Car parks around the lake are paid in season, and parking on the south-shore road fills early. Camp Bohinj is at Ukanc 5, 300 m from the lower Vogel cable-car station; campsite season runs from late March to early October. Lake access is mostly over short gravel paths; some lakeside points are level.
Amenities
Legal context
Slovenia permits nude bathing at designated naturist areas and campsites, while indecent public behaviour can be fined under the Protection of Public Order Act (ZJRM-1). Lake Bohinj lies in Triglav National Park, whose rules govern activities on the lake; no municipal or park designation of a nude area on the lake was found (accessed 2026).
Naturism at Bohinjsko Jezero sits under Slovenia's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
