Naturism in Lithuania
Lithuania permits nudism through informal community-based oversight; nudist beaches operate under local administration without explicit statutory prohibition, though the Criminal Code technically addresses indecent exposure. Naturist activities are tolerated in designated areas, with municipalities managing access and conduct standards.

All 8 beaches →Nida Nudist Beach
Officially DesignatedNida's naturist beach is on the Baltic side of the Curonian Spit, the narrow sand spit shared by Lithuania and Russia and protected as Curonian Spit National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It lies on the open-sea coast west of Nida, the spit's southernmost Lithuanian resort, and was officially opened as a naturist beach in 2008. The setting is the draw: a wide white-sand beach backed by pine forest and some of the highest drifting dunes in Europe, with clean, cool Baltic water and Blue Flag status for the Nida beaches. CNN has repeatedly ranked it among the world's best nude beaches, most recently in 2025 when Neringa Municipality publicised a second place, which has made it one of the best-known nude beaches on the Baltic. Neringa beaches have changing cabins and seasonal lifeguards. The municipality notes that naturists also use beaches near Preila, Pervalka and Juodkrantė further north on the spit, which are quieter.
Valakampiai beach
Officially DesignatedVilnius's city nudist area is part of Valakampiai II, one of two neighbouring Blue Flag river beaches on the Neris about 7 km from the old town, in the pine forests of Antakalnis. The zone was set up a few years before 2024 at the nudist community's request, slightly apart from the main beach, and is managed by the municipal company Grinda, which looks after the city's beaches. It has its own spot with benches, bins and warning signs announcing the nudist beach, starting some way before the zone. The river shore itself is a small strip of sand shaded by trees for much of the day, so the sand stays damp in spring and autumn; regulars have traditionally sunbathed on an adjoining mown meadow and used the beach mainly for swimming. In 2026 the city cut back the designated area sharply, leaving the meadow outside it and nudists largely confined to the bushes and a very small sand strip, which drew complaints. The main Valakampiai II beach has changing cubicles, permanent toilets, picnic tables, free barbecues and lifeguards in season.
Akmena beach
Informal / TraditionalAkmena beach is a nudist-friendly beach in Lithuania. Nudity is optional.
Alytaus nudistų paplūdimys
Unofficial / ToleratedAlytus, the main city of southern Lithuania, is listed among the country's nudist beaches. Wikipedia's list of social nudity places in Europe says it was officially opened in 2023. No municipal notice or local news report found here gives its exact location, size or rules. The record places it at the point shown on the map, but treat that as approximate. Nudist beaches in other Lithuanian cities are usually a sign-marked section of a public bathing area, but we could not confirm how this one is laid out.
Giruliai naturist beach
Unofficial / ToleratedGiruliai is the northernmost seaside district of Klaipėda. It sits at the quiet end of the Melnragė–Giruliai coastal strip, a Baltic sand beach backed by dunes. Beach guides describe it as the most remote and least crowded part of the city's coast, which is why nudists favour it. Klaipėda's mainland beaches are divided into functional zones under the Giruliai detailed plan approved by the city council in 2005, the year the nudist beach is reported to have opened. The municipality's beach rules define a nudist beach as a sign-marked section open to people of all genders who bathe without swimwear or with only part of it. Unlike the women's beaches in Melnragė and the men's beaches across the lagoon in Smiltynė, it is mixed. TV3 has reported that the nudist section at Giruliai was doubled from 200 to 400 metres. The sand is fine, but in places the seabed has boulders and stones, so watch your footing when you go in. The Baltic here is cool, and the beach is most pleasant in July and August.
Nemirseta beach
Unofficial / ToleratedNemirseta is the southernmost part of Palanga, on the Baltic coast near the Klaipėda city boundary. The long sand beach, backed by dunes, has an informal nudist section that has been used for years. A beach directory gives its length as about 1.4 km and describes it as a place for people who want a quiet stay and for naturists. It is a long way from the busy central beaches and the pier, so it is much calmer than central Palanga. The basic facilities mentioned are changing cabins and toilets; there is nowhere to eat right on the beach, and the nearest restaurant is reported to be under 1 km away. The Baltic Times reported that Palanga municipality knew about the nudist beach but had no plans to act against it, and that the head of the lifeguard service favoured making it official, preferably further away from the family beaches. Nudist use is separate from Palanga's single-sex women's and men's beaches near the central lifeguard station.
