About Truvebadet

Truvebadet is a lake beach on Vänern about 5 km east of Lidköping, set in leafy deciduous woodland with large grassy lawns behind a long, very shallow sandy shore. It is owned and run by Lidköping municipality as an ordinary family bathing place, and the naturist section is a separate stretch beyond the textile beach: the Swedish naturist federation's map describes Truvebadet as an official nude bath lying just west of a golf course and roughly 600 m east of Filsbäcks Camping. To find it, go down to the textile beach and keep right along the shore as far as you can. The local naturist club NF Skaraborg has long used the spot, but it is open to anyone. The sandy, gently shelving water suits small children, and the federation's description says it suits small children too. The textile area has a toilet, swings, picnic tables and bins, but there is no drinking water, and no jetty, changing cabins or grill area. Lidköping was one of the municipalities where complaints about sexual behaviour at nude beaches were reported in 2015.

Getting there

From Lidköping head east towards the Truve area; there are about 30 parking spaces south of the railway, with no disabled bays. Cross the railway at the unguarded level crossing to the textile beach, then turn right and follow the shore to the end: about 400 m from the car park. By bus, get off at the 'Truve' stop (Västtrafik) and allow about 20 minutes on foot. The ground at the beach is flat grass and sand.

Legal context

The Swedish naturist federation map (seen 2026) calls Truvebadet an official nude bath owned and operated by Lidköping municipality. Sweden has no law against nude bathing; nudity only becomes an issue if it amounts to sexual harassment or disorderly conduct towards others. In 2015 Sveriges Radio reported complaints about open sex at nude beaches in Lidköping and Laholm, which led local politicians to discuss measures.

Naturism at Truvebadet sits under Sweden's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
