About Tou Pappa to Houma
Tou Papa to Chouma (Παπά του Χούμα) is a small sandy beach on the east coast of Skyros in the Sporades, a short distance below Chora, the island's hilltop main town. It is an unorganised beach with clear, turquoise-green water and no sunbeds, bars or natural shade, and it stays almost empty even in summer because it is reached only on foot or by boat. Allovergreece, a Greek beach guide, lists it as a nudist beach and notes that the low numbers make it easy for anyone who wants to bathe nude to do so; Frommer's also notes that Skyros's isolated beaches have nude sections, though Skyros has no officially designated nude beach. The setting is simple: a strip of sand at the foot of the slope beneath Chora, with views out over the Aegean. Visitors are mostly independent travellers and island regulars looking for quiet rather than a scene, so numbers are small and people spread out.
Getting there
From Chora, the beach is reached by a footpath down the slope towards the east coast; guides describe the walk as fairly easy, but there are no steps or handrails and it is not suitable for wheelchairs. Park in or at the edge of Chora (free, limited in August) and walk down. Some visitors arrive by small boat. Buses link Chora with Linaria port and Magazia, but nothing goes to the beach itself.
Legal context
Skyros has no officially designated nude beach; nudity here is informally tolerated because the beach is remote and lightly used (2026). No local ban or enforcement reports were found.
Naturism at Tou Pappa to Houma sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
