About Souda beach
Souda is the last beach on the Plakias seafront in south Crete, at the mouth of a green valley where Cretan palms grow along the Finikas stream. It was once a remote nudist cove at the end of a dirt track. Today it is paved and organised, with sunbeds and tavernas, and the clothed crowd dominates in high summer. Naturists still use the far end, and on quiet days the two groups coexist easily, but nude bathers report feeling less comfortable than they once did. Nearby Mikro Amoudaki is now the more relaxed nude option.
Getting there
About 3 km by paved road from Plakias. Park near the beach.

Legal context
Cretan Beaches notes that naturism is officially not allowed in Greece but practised in places like this. Tension with clothed visitors on busy days has been reported. Greece has no national register of designated nudist beaches; nudity is formally sanctioned only at licensed naturist establishments, but on remote or traditionally nude beaches it is widely tolerated, and police generally act only if someone complains.
Naturism at Souda beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
