About Plage naturiste de la Réserve Naturelle du Bagnas
This is the stretch of fine sand on the Mediterranean at the boundary of Marseillan and Agde, in front of the Bagnas national nature reserve, a wetland of lagoons and dunes. Coming from Marseillan-Plage, the beach runs west past the campsites and then along the reserve, with no buildings behind it; after the reserve it becomes the famous beach of the Cap d'Agde naturist village. Naturists use the whole reserve shoreline, which is free to access, unlike the village. The commune of Marseillan says this beach is not officially naturist and that the naturist zone starts after the reserve, and a sign midway marks the reserve boundary rather than a nude zone. Even so, visitors report it is used almost entirely by nude bathers: mixed near the campsites, then a mostly gay section, then a 'libertine' stretch closer to Cap d'Agde. The sand is clean and the water shallow; seaweed is left in place to protect the shore. There are no facilities on the sand and the dunes are strictly off limits.
Getting there
Approach from Marseillan-Plage: park along Avenue des Campings / Chemin du Littoral (very few spaces; parking along the access road has been largely replaced by cycle lanes since about 2017), then walk to the sea and turn right (west). Cycling from Marseillan-Plage is easiest; there is no secure bike parking. Reaching it via Cap d'Agde means entering the naturist village, which charges an entry fee. Walk on the beach only; the reserve dunes are closed and patrolled.
What visitors say
Reviewers say the beach is in practice a nude beach, quieter and free compared with the Cap d'Agde village next door, and only a few minutes from the Marseillan campsites. They describe a gradient from mixed bathers near the campsites to a gay section and then a libertine area near Cap d'Agde, with many German and Dutch visitors in early summer and locals at weekends. Common complaints are scarce parking, bike theft, and voyeurs; advice is to move away from the textile end to avoid stares and to stay out of the dunes.

Legal context
The commune of Marseillan reportedly states that this beach is not naturist and that naturism begins beyond the reserve at Cap d'Agde; nudity here is tolerated in practice rather than authorised. Entering the Bagnas reserve dunes is prohibited and reserve wardens patrol and can fine (reported 2017). Public sexual activity, which some visitors report on the eastern part, is an offence in France.
Naturism at Plage naturiste de la Réserve Naturelle du Bagnas sits under France's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Frequently asked questions
Is the beach by the Bagnas reserve officially naturist?
No. The commune of Marseillan says naturism officially starts beyond the reserve at Cap d'Agde, but the reserve shoreline is widely used by nude bathers.
Do I have to pay to use it?
No, it is a free public beach if you arrive from Marseillan-Plage; going through the Cap d'Agde naturist village requires paying the village entry.
Where can I park?
Parking near Avenue des Campings is very limited; cycle from Marseillan-Plage or park further away.
Is it family-friendly?
The end nearest the campsites is mixed and calm, but parts nearer Cap d'Agde are known for gay and libertine activity, so families usually prefer the village beach.
