About Plage naturiste de la Pointe du Banc
The Pointe du Banc naturist beach is at the southern tip of the beach of Saint-Germain-sur-Ay on the west coast of the Cotentin (Manche), where the long dune coast meets the Havre de Saint-Germain-sur-Ay estuary. It is the only beach in the Manche department where naturism is authorised. The naturist strip is about 300 m long, marked at each end by a sign, and lies south of the textile family area near the car park. The setting is wild: high dunes on a protected coastline, wide sand flats and the estuary behind. Being on the Channel coast with large tides, the sea retreats a long way at low tide, leaving a long walk to the water and, according to some reviewers, a faint smell from the flats; there are also some rocks, so footwear helps. The beach is run by the Saint-Germain Naturisme association and is open to everyone, with non-naturists welcome if they respect naturist etiquette. The crowd is relaxed and mixed, including families.
Getting there
From Saint-Germain-sur-Ay village follow signs to Saint-Germain-sur-Ay Plage and then for the Pointe du Banc; the road runs about 1.5 km to a car park at the end, which has a height barrier (about 2.20 m). From the car park walk south along the beach past the family area to the first naturist sign. Paths across the dunes are sandy. Pets are allowed. No other facilities are listed.
What visitors say
Visitors describe a wild, spacious, dune-backed beach with a friendly and well-ordered naturist section. Tide timing comes up often: at low tide the water is far away. Some mention a sulphurous smell from the flats and rocks underfoot, and the car park height limit rules out camper vans. Overall it is regarded as a pleasant, uncrowded official naturist beach on a coast with few alternatives.

Legal context
Normandy's regional tourism site states the beach is authorised by municipal by-law and managed by the Saint-Germain Naturisme association, with a 300 m naturist strip marked by two signs. It is described as the only beach in the Manche where naturism is allowed. In France simple nudity is not itself an offence, but 'exhibition sexuelle' (Penal Code art. 222-32) can be charged where nudity is imposed on others, so nudity is safest on beaches authorised or tolerated by the commune.
Naturism at Plage naturiste de la Pointe du Banc sits under France's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
