About Plage du Trayas - Nudist beach
The Trayas naturist beach, usually listed as the Cap Roux naturist beach, is a small wild cove on the east side of the Cap Roux headland at Le Trayas, in the commune of Saint-Raphaël (Var), about 19 km from Saint-Raphaël and 11 km from Théoule-sur-Mer. It lies on the Corniche d'Or, where the red porphyry cliffs of the Esterel drop into the sea, and is often described as the only naturist beach in the Esterel. The shore is about 200 m long and very narrow, made of brown pebbles and stones with a pebble seabed, and split into several small bays among the rocks. The water is clear and turquoise, deepening moderately, with few boats, and some corners are sheltered from waves. The cove is not signposted and sits just below the coast road, the railway and some houses, so it feels secluded rather than remote. Crowds are moderate in high season. There are no facilities at all.
Getting there
Coming from Saint-Raphaël on the D559 coast road, park at the Cap Roux car park (free), then walk about 400 m towards Théoule-sur-Mer to the 'Villa Dani' bus stop sign, where steps on the right lead down to the cove. From Théoule, it is about 700 m past the Maubois cove, by a low wall above the railway and a bus stop. Coastal buses between Saint-Raphaël/Agay and Théoule stop nearby, and Le Trayas has a small railway station. Not wheelchair accessible; wear water shoes.

Legal context
No municipal authorisation or official listing was found; the France.fr Provence-Côte d'Azur list does not include Le Trayas. Nudity here is a local tradition described by beach directories. In France simple nudity is not itself an offence, but 'exhibition sexuelle' (Penal Code art. 222-32) can be charged where nudity is imposed on others, so nudity is safest on beaches authorised or tolerated by the commune.
Naturism at Plage du Trayas - Nudist beach sits under France's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
