About Plage des Chevrets
Plage des Chevrets is a large sandy bay at La Guimorais in Saint-Coulomb, on the Emerald Coast between Saint-Malo and Cancale (Ille-et-Vilaine). It is backed by the Chevrets dunes, with a campsite and a restaurant on the dune in the middle of the bay, and at low tide you can walk out to the islets of Petit and Grand Chevret. The main part of the beach is a supervised family beach with water sports in summer. Nude sunbathing takes place at the far right (eastern) end towards the Pointe du Meinga, from the old blockhouse to the large rock formation, where rocks and small coves give some privacy and the textile beach is clearly separated. However, beach directories report that a Saint-Coulomb municipal by-law prohibits naturism here, so the practice is only tolerated and could be challenged. The bay has big tides typical of the Saint-Malo area, so the sand at the naturist end largely disappears at high water. A 2015 user comment asked the commune to define and signpost a naturist zone; no such zone has been reported since.
Getting there
From Rothéneuf (Saint-Malo) take the D201 towards Cancale, then turn left after about 1.2 km towards the campsite and the hamlet of La Guimorais. The access road is very narrow; spaces near the beach are few, so use the large car park on the right before the campsite entrance. Stairs lead down from the dune. Saint-Malo buses stop at La Guimorais. For the nude area, walk to the right (east) end of the beach.
What visitors say
Reviews of the beach as a whole praise the wide sand, dunes and walk to the Chevret islets, but complain of chaotic weekend parking, a narrow access road and patchy toilets and litter management. On the naturist end, opinions are split: some find it a pleasant, discreet spot, while one reviewer criticised the behaviour of some naturists near families. Users have called for a clearly marked naturist zone and better signage.

Legal context
Beach directories (plages.tv, consulted 2026) state that naturism at the Pointe du Meinga end is tolerated but that a municipal arrêté of Saint-Coulomb prohibits it; the text of the by-law was not found. The tourist office and Brittany tourism listings present Les Chevrets as a supervised family beach and do not mention naturism. Under French law, nudity outside an authorised area can be prosecuted as sexual exhibition if it offends others.
Naturism at Plage des Chevrets sits under France's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.

Frequently asked questions
Is nudity legal at Plage des Chevrets?
Not clearly. Nude sunbathing is tolerated at the eastern end, but a municipal by-law is reported to prohibit naturism, so you could be asked to dress or fined.
Where do naturists go?
To the far right (east) end towards the Pointe du Meinga, from the blockhouse to the big rocks, away from the family beach.
Where should I park?
Use the large car park on the right before the campsite entrance; the road down to the beach is narrow with few spaces.
Can I walk to the islands?
At low tide the Petit and Grand Chevret islets can be reached on foot; watch the rising tide.
