About Plage de Tahiti

Plage de Tahiti is the northern end of the great Pampelonne bay, at the foot of the Saint-Tropez peninsula just west of Cap du Pinet, in the commune of Ramatuelle despite its Saint-Tropez address. It is a fine sand beach fringed with umbrella pines, alternating private beach clubs, including the long-established Tahiti Beach, with public stretches, and looks south down the whole curve of Pampelonne. France's national tourism site presents Tahiti as a full-service nudist beach with showers, toilets and a snack bar. The authorised naturist zone at the northern end of the bay is Gros Vallat, which the Ramatuelle tourist office lists as one of the two portions of Pampelonne where a municipal decree permits naturism; beach guides place it north of the route de l'Epi access and describe it as a large nude area with some clothed bathers. On the club frontages and the rest of Tahiti beach, swimwear is the norm.

Getting there

From Saint-Tropez, take the avenue Foch and route du Pinet to the route de Tahiti, or follow the D93 route des Plages and turn off at the chemin des Moulins; for the naturist zone use the route de l'Epi. Parking behind the beach is paid in summer, and the beach is hard to find without GPS. In summer a free shuttle runs from Ramatuelle village to the beaches every 20 minutes, and Zou bus line 7705 serves them.

Legal context

A Ramatuelle municipal decree authorises naturism on two portions of Pampelonne bay, Gros Vallat and Matarane (tourist office, 2026); beach guides place Gros Vallat in the north of the bay, off the route de l'Epi. Outside those zones, including in front of the private clubs, nudity is not authorised and can be prosecuted under French law.

Naturism at Plage de Tahiti sits under France's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.

Is Tahiti still a nude beach?

Partly. The authorised naturist zone at this end of Pampelonne is Gros Vallat, reached by the route de l'Epi; the club frontages and the rest of Tahiti beach are clothed.

Is Tahiti in Saint-Tropez?

It has a Saint-Tropez feel but lies in Ramatuelle, at the northern end of Pampelonne bay.

Is parking easy?

Parking behind the beach is paid in summer and fills early; the free shuttle from Ramatuelle is an alternative.

Are there facilities?

Yes. There are showers, toilets and food at the beach, plus private clubs renting sunbeds.
