About Pachia Ammos Beach

Pachia Ammos is a remote beach on the northeast coast of Nisyros in the Dodecanese, about 10 km from the port of Mandraki, beyond the coastal hamlet of Lies. At roughly 350 m it is the island's main sandy beach, with coarse, dark volcanic sand and a sandy seabed under clear water, backed by low dunes and bushes. It has no services at all and few visitors, and guides agree that most of the people who make the walk are naturists, along with some free campers; it is the best-known place on Nisyros for nude bathing. Nudity is the norm across the whole beach rather than in a separate section. There is little natural shade, so an umbrella is essential, and with no kiosk or taverna on the beach you need to bring all water and food.

Getting there

Drive or take a taxi from Mandraki east through Pali towards Lies; continue past the Oasis taverna along the coast until the dirt road ends at a small free parking area. From there a trail of 10-15 minutes leads to the beach; it is rough and steep in places, so wear proper shoes. No public transport reaches the trailhead. Not wheelchair accessible.

What visitors say

Visitors describe a quiet, wild beach where most people are nude and a few campers stay overnight. The walk is short but rough, and the lack of any services means bringing water, food and shade. Some listings claim facilities exist, but more detailed accounts say there are none.
