About Monodéndri nudist beach
Monodendri is a group of small pebble coves on the north-east coast of Lipsi, a small Dodecanese island north of Leros. It is named after the single tree, often described as a cedar or juniper, that stands on the rocky point above the main cove. The coast here is wild and rocky with very clear turquoise water, and the eastern beaches get few visitors. There are no facilities at all and no taverna, and apart from the tree the beach has almost no shade. Kalispera calls Monodendri Lipsi's (unofficial) nudist beach, and Beachatlas lists it among the island's nude spots, describing it as secluded and taking some effort to reach. Greece's national tourism site mentions the beach for its lone tree and wild water but does not mention nudity. With so few people, nude and clothed visitors rarely crowd each other.
Getting there
From Lipsi village take the road east, following the signs for Monodendri, past the small church of Agios Ioannis; from the end of the road a footpath of about 300 metres leads down to the coves. On foot from the village it takes roughly 30-50 minutes depending on pace; many visitors rent a scooter. The final path is sloping and rough. Bring water, food and shade.
What visitors say
Guides describe Monodendri as secluded, quiet and beautiful, with clear water good for snorkelling and very few visitors. The common advice is to bring everything you need since there is no taverna, and to wear proper shoes for the path. Sources disagree on the walk time from the village, from about 30 to 50 minutes.

Legal context
Monodendri is not an officially designated nude beach (some guides wrongly call it official). Greece has very few officially recognised nude beaches; elsewhere nudity is technically not permitted and could be charged under the Penal Code's indecency provision (Lifo, 2022, cites article 353), but on secluded beaches it is widely tolerated and police usually start with a warning.
Naturism at Monodéndri nudist beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
