About Mikros Mourtias Beach

Mikros Mourtias is a small, sheltered cove on the southwest coast of Alonissos in the Northern Sporades, directly west of the larger Megalos Mourtias beach and below the old hilltop village of Chora. It is under 100 m long, a mix of pebbles and sand backed by pine-covered slopes, with clear turquoise water; the seabed is rocky, so water shoes help. Where its neighbour Megalos Mourtias has sunbeds and a few tavernas, Mikros Mourtias has nothing, and guides describe it as more secluded and often preferred by naturists. There is no defined nude zone; with few people, the cove as a whole is generally used clothing-optional. Alonissos lies inside the National Marine Park of Alonissos and the Northern Sporades, so the water is notably clean.

Getting there

From Patitiri (under 5 km) drive or take a taxi to Megalos Mourtias, which has a road and some parking; from Chora a short hiking trail leads down to the bay. Mikros Mourtias lies immediately west of Megalos Mourtias and is reached on foot from there. Food and drink are available at the tavernas on Megalos Mourtias. Not wheelchair accessible.
