About Mikro Seitani Beach
Mikro Seitani (Small Seitani) is a small cove on the rugged northwest coast of Samos, west of Karlovasi and Potami, inside a Natura 2000 protected area set up for the Mediterranean monk seal. It sits below steep cliffs at the mouth of a ravine and has no road access, which keeps numbers low and is why naturists use it. A local Samos beach guide calls it an informal nudist beach where people dress or undress as they wish; swimwear and nude sunbathing mix. The beach is sand and pebble, the water is emerald and deep quickly, and it is often colder and wavier than south-coast beaches because it faces open sea to the north. There is no shade apart from the cliffs at certain hours, and no facilities at all. Further west along the same coastal path is the much larger Megalo Seitani. Because it is a protected seal habitat, fires are forbidden and all rubbish must be carried out.
Getting there
Drive to Potami beach west of Karlovasi, where the paved road ends. Continue west on a dirt road for about 1.3 km to a small wooden sign, park at the roadside (free, few spaces), then walk about 1 km on a footpath; allow 15-20 minutes. The path climbs and drops steeply in places, so wear proper shoes and carry water. No public transport reaches the trailhead; buses run to Karlovasi. Not accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The path continues to Megalo Seitani (roughly another hour).
What visitors say
Visitors describe a wild, isolated cove that rewards the steep walk with clear, cool water and a strong sense of seclusion. Nude and clothed bathers share the beach without issue. Common tips are to bring sturdy shoes, plenty of water and shade, and to expect waves on windy days. Some find the path harder than advertised, especially in midday heat.
