About Lulviksbadet

Lulviksbadet is a sea bathing place on the Gulf of Bothnia about 10 km from central Luleå, near the airport. The site is split into a textile bathing area and a naturist area, separated by a strip of woodland; the naturist part lies to the right as you come down from the car park. It has a large lawn, a sandy beach and a barbecue area with tables and benches. The water is shallow and shelves gently, which makes it suitable for children, and the beach is maintained by the local naturist association NF Nord together with Luleå municipality. Visit Luleå, the city's tourism office, describes Lulviksbadet as spacious and well kept with big lawns and barbecue facilities, and notes that part of the beach is designated for nude bathing. In summer the association sometimes holds barbecue evenings here and runs Saturday information mornings in July. The bathing season this far north is short, but the long daylight of June and July allows late-evening swims.

Getting there

From Luleå follow signs for the airport. At the airport junction (marked by a military aircraft on a plinth) continue straight for about 1.7 km and turn left into the car park; you can drive through it to park closer to the naturist end. A short path leads down from the car park to the naturist beach. There is a toilet at the car park. No bus information was found, so a car or bicycle is the usual way to get there.

What visitors say

Visitors describe Lulviksbadet as a roomy, well-kept local beach popular with Luleå residents, with lawns and barbecue spots that make it good for long summer days. The shallow water warms faster than deeper northern beaches and suits families. Little detailed review material exists for the naturist section specifically.
