About Liepāja Naturist Beach
Liepāja, on Latvia's Kurzeme coast, has a municipally designated nudist beach on the city's long Baltic shore south of the centre. Under the city's current beach rules (2024) the nudist zone, D9, runs from the northern edge of the Southern Cemetery (Dienvidu kapi) to the city's southern boundary, toward Pērkone; earlier rules placed a much shorter nude stretch just south of the seaside park, so older maps and directories may show the wrong spot. The coast here is the same as the rest of Liepāja's beach: wide, fine, pale sand backed by dunes and pine woods, with a shallow, sandy sea floor. Beyond the city's main beach the shore becomes quiet and natural, with no promenade or cafés, and the nude section has no lifeguards or built facilities beyond what the city places seasonally, so bring water and shade. Dunes are protected and must not be trampled. The Baltic is cool even in July and August, and wind can be strong, so a windbreak is useful.
Getting there
Head south from central Liepāja along the coast; the nude zone starts level with the northern edge of the Southern Cemetery (Dienvidu kapi) and continues to the city boundary. Paths cross the dunes from the streets behind the beach; use marked crossings only. Parking is on the streets near the cemetery and southern residential areas; driving on the beach is prohibited. City buses run to southern Liepāja. Expect a walk over soft sand, which makes wheelchair access difficult.

Legal context
Liepāja City Council binding regulations No. 21 of 23 May 2024 on use of city beaches and bathing places designate a nudist beach (zone D9) from the northern boundary of the Southern Cemetery to the southern city boundary. Earlier rules (2008, 2012, 2018) placed it elsewhere and have been repealed. Nudity outside the designated zone can be treated as a public order offence.
