About Lethra beach
Lethra is a long, narrow pebble beach on the east coast of Tilos, a small Dodecanese island between Kos and Rhodes, just north of the main village and port of Livadia and reached only on foot or by boat. The beach is mostly white pebbles with patches of sand and gravel, in a wild, empty bay with clear water. There are no facilities at all and almost no shade: a single tree, which early arrivals claim, and some caves at the far right-hand end. Tilos has no official nude beach, but Lethra is the closest thing to one; the regional guide allovergreece says it is loved by locals and naturists alike, and walkers' guides note that nude bathing is common here, though many visitors still wear swimsuits. The walk is a highlight in itself, along a hillside path with views over Livadia bay and past Red Beach, and the beach is one of the island's quietest. Eristos, on the other side of the island, is the other beach on Tilos where nude bathing is common.
Getting there
From Livadia port, start at the Ilidi Rock Studios (to the left of the harbour as you face the sea) and follow the coastal path north, past Ruth's Rock memorial and Red Beach; after Red Beach, turn right at a fork marked with cairns onto a narrow goat track down to Lethra. The walk takes about 40-45 minutes, is mostly easy, and ends with a steeper descent; wear proper shoes. Boats are the other way in. You can return the same way or climb to the Livadia-Megalo Chorio road. No wheelchair access; bring water and food.
What visitors say
Walkers describe Lethra as a peaceful, beautiful beach where the hike is half the pleasure, especially at sunrise. Visitors agree there is very little shade, one tree and a few caves, and nothing to buy, so water, food and an umbrella are essential; the nearest taverna is back in Livadia. Nude bathing is common but not universal, and swimsuits are also usual. Some listings claim showers and toilets, but walkers' accounts and the main description say there are no facilities.

Naturism at Lethra beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
