About Kinetta Beach
Kineta (often spelled Kinetta) is a seaside settlement on the Saronic Gulf in West Attica, between Megara and the Isthmus of Corinth, about 47 km west of central Athens. Its coastline is a run of pebble and sand beaches below the old Athens-Corinth road, in the area locals call Kakia Skala. The nude section is not on the central village beach but further east, roughly 1.5 km from the Sun Hotel, where a stretch of about 300 m has long been used by nude bathers from Athens and Corinth. Gay travel guides describe it as a mostly gay and nude beach, and a local guide calls the area LGBTQI friendly. The shore is mixed pebble and sand with clear but sometimes questionable water: chemical tests have at times led the authorities to declare this part of the coast unsuitable for swimming. There are no facilities on the nude stretch, and much of the pine cover on the slopes behind was lost in the 2018 wildfire, so natural shade is scarce. It is a weekday and weekend escape for Athenians rather than a tourist beach.
Getting there
Drive west from Athens on the Athens-Corinth motorway (toll) and take the Kineta exit, then follow the old national road to the coastal road that ends at the Sun Hotel; park there. From the hotel walk along the shore for about 20 minutes, past the clothed beaches, until you reach the nude stretch, roughly 1.5 km on. Suburban rail (Proastiakos) trains from Athens towards Corinth stop at Kineta in about 45 minutes, leaving a longer walk to the beach. The walk is over pebbles and rocks and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
What visitors say
Guides describe the nude stretch as a long-established spot for Athenians, largely gay men, with a mix of nude and clothed visitors further along. The main draws are its closeness to Athens and the relative quiet compared with Attica's crowded beaches. Visitors note there is nothing to buy on the beach, so water and an umbrella are essential, and the slopes behind have been bare since the 2018 fire. The occasional poor water-quality ratings are the most common caution. Directions vary between sources, so walking east from the Sun Hotel along the shore and looking for the first nude bathers is the usual advice.

Legal context
Greece has no designated nude beaches and public nudity can be prosecuted under the Penal Code's public-decency provisions, but nude bathing on secluded stretches is usually tolerated if it stays out of sight of clothed beaches. Kineta's nude section has no signage or official status; we found no reports of recent enforcement. Check water-quality notices, as parts of this coast have been declared unsuitable for swimming in the past.
Naturism at Kinetta Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Frequently asked questions
Is nudity legal at Kineta?
It is not officially designated. Nude bathing on this remote stretch is tolerated in practice, but Greek decency law still applies, so stay on the nude section.
Where exactly is the nude section?
East of Kineta's central beach, about 1.5 km (around 20 minutes on foot) along the shore from the Sun Hotel, where the coastal road ends.
Can I get there without a car?
Yes. Suburban trains from Athens stop at Kineta in about 45 minutes, but you then have a longer walk to the beach.
Is the water clean?
Usually it is clear, but tests have occasionally rated this part of the gulf unsuitable for swimming, so check current notices.
Is it family friendly?
Not really. It is mainly frequented by adult and gay visitors; families use the clothed beaches in the village.
