About Katsouni Beach

Katsouni is a small, quiet beach on the south coast of Anafi, just east of the port at Agios Nikolaos and next to the larger Klisidi beach. It is unorganised and sits in barren, rocky surroundings typical of the island, with clear water and a narrow strip of golden sand and pebbles. The seabed is mostly sandy with a few rocky patches. Tamarisk trees along the back of the beach give some shade. Nude bathing is common here; those who want more privacy settle among the rocks at either end of the beach, while the middle is mixed. A second small cove, Flamourou, lies immediately to the left and can be reached by swimming round or by a path. There is nothing to buy on the beach, so bring water, snacks and an umbrella; the nearest taverna is at the start of the path at Klisidi. Nudity is not accepted everywhere on Anafi, and some beaches carry signs against it.

Getting there

From Klisidi beach (by car, or by the summer bus between Chora and Monastiri, which runs 3-4 times a day and stops at Klisidi), take the easy coastal footpath that starts near the taverna: about 10-15 minutes. Walking down from Chora takes around 30 minutes. A path from the Mikros Roukounas bus stop also leads to Flamourou and Katsouni, and small boats run from the port. The path is easy but not wheelchair accessible.

Legal context

Greece has no official nude beaches; nude bathing at Katsouni is an informal custom that guides describe as tolerated. Some Anafi beaches, including one near Megalos Roukounas, carry signs prohibiting nudity, so look for signs before undressing. We found none reported at Katsouni (checked 2026).

Naturism at Katsouni Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
