About Herrfallet Naturistbad Fribad
Herrfallet is a 125-hectare nature reserve on a gravel ridge that juts into the north shore of Lake Hjälmaren in Eskilstuna municipality, about 15 km from Arboga. Naturistriksförbundet, the Swedish naturist federation, lists a naturist bathing place here on its national map, linked to the regional club NF Mälardalen, which holds summer bathing days at Herrfallet. The reserve itself is mostly birch woodland with old pines along the ridge crest, some ten metres above the water, and a stand of large oaks; bluebells flower in spring and beavers have felled aspens along the shore. Its shores are mainly long, gently shelving natural sand, broken by stony and reedy stretches, and Hjälmaren is shallow and nutrient-rich, so the water warms early but is not clear. The reserve also holds a campsite with a summer restaurant, canoe hire and grill places, and its ordinary bathing areas are marked with orange buoys where motorboats are banned. Neither the county board nor the club gives a public description of the exact naturist spot, so the pin from the federation map is the best guide.
Getting there
From road 56 just north of Alberga, follow signs via Västermo, cross the Hjälmare canal and after about 5 km turn toward Herrfallet. Parking is on the left as you enter the reserve, before the campsite; park only in marked spaces. Gravel and paved roads in the campsite area lead to the shore, and a 4 km nature trail with signs in Swedish and English loops through the reserve but is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams. No public transport is mentioned by the county board.
Amenities
Legal context
The naturist bathing place appears on the national naturist federation's map (2025-26), but the county board's reserve page does not mention it, so it is not shown as a municipally designated nude beach. Nude bathing is not prohibited in Sweden. Reserve rules ban dogs in bathing areas, fires outside fixed places and camping outside the campsite.
Naturism at Herrfallet Naturistbad Fribad sits under Sweden's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
