About Grameno Beach
Grammeno (also Grameno or Grammenos) is a small, low peninsula on the south-west coast of Crete, about 5 km west of Paleochora at the mouth of the Pelekaniotis river. It splits into two beaches. On the east side is Alonaki (also called Votsalo or Gialos), roughly 500 m of mixed sand and pebbles with clear, deep-blue water; it is exposed to waves, and while its western part has rented umbrellas, the eastern end is the quietest part. On the west side is Houma (Chouma), a sheltered, west-facing sandy cove shaded by a stand of protected junipers that grow extremely slowly; visitors are asked not to break their branches. The water is usually calm and shallow. A Cretan regional beach guide tags Grammeno as nudism-friendly, but no part is designated; nude sunbathing has to be discreet and away from the umbrellas, and the quiet eastern end of Alonaki is the most private part of the beach. An organised campsite, a few rooms and tavernas are close by, and the beach has held Blue Flag status.
Getting there
From Paleochora drive about 5 km west on the paved coast road towards Koundoura; the beach is signposted and there is roadside parking near it. Without a car, take the KTEL bus from Chania to Paleochora, then a taxi to Grammeno. Access from the parking to both sides of the peninsula is a short, level walk over sand and pebbles; there is no adapted wheelchair access.

Legal context
Greece has no general legal framework for naturism and nudity is officially not permitted outside the few designated places; in practice nude bathing is widely tolerated on quiet, unorganised beaches as long as nobody objects. Crete has no official or signposted nudist beaches; Cretan Beaches advises naturists to choose quiet spots and avoid crowded areas. Grammeno is a Blue Flag beach with families present, so discretion is expected.
Naturism at Grameno Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
