About Eristos Beach
Eristos is the longest beach on Tilos, a small Dodecanese island between Rhodes and Kos. It fills the head of a wide valley on the south-west coast, roughly 3 km below the village of Megalo Chorio, and runs for about 1.2 km. The shore is mostly coarse sand mixed with small pebbles (guides disagree on which dominates), backed by a line of tamarisk trees that give the only shade. The water is notably clear. There are no sunbeds or umbrellas: the beach is entirely unorganised, and Livadia is the only Tilos beach with tourist facilities. Eristos is also the one place on the island where camping is officially allowed, and signs confine tents to the eastern part of the bay, so the trees at that end hold a small, long-stay crowd of campers. Nude bathing has been a fixture here for decades and travel guides describe Eristos as the island's best-known naturist beach; because the bay is so long, naturists spread out away from the road end and mix without fuss with clothed bathers. Even in August it rarely feels busy, as Tilos receives few visitors. A taverna with a small shop and a hotel restaurant are a short walk inland.
Getting there
Eristos is reached by road from Megalo Chorio, about 3 km away, and cars park behind the beach. The island bus between Livadia (the port) and Megalo Chorio also serves Eristos in summer, so a car is not needed. There is also a walking route down from Megalo Chorio. From the parking area it is a short walk onto the sand; reaching the quieter stretches means walking along the beach. There is no wheelchair-adapted access.
What visitors say
Visitors describe Eristos as quiet, spacious and unspoilt, with tamarisk shade and a relaxed mix of naturists, campers and a few families. Most say there is always room to spread out. Opinions on the campsite facilities are split: one recent camper report calls the toilets shabby and rarely cleaned, while a Kos-based guide describes them as basic but adequate. Visitors suggest bringing water and food, or using the nearby taverna, because there is nothing on the sand itself.

Legal context
Greece has no general legal framework for naturism and nudity is officially not permitted outside the few designated places; in practice nude bathing is widely tolerated on quiet, unorganised beaches as long as nobody objects. Eristos has no naturist signage or designation; camping is the only activity regulated by signs (restricted to the eastern part of the bay). No enforcement against nude bathers has been reported.
Naturism at Eristos Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
