About Dicastica

Dikastika is a stretch of jagged rocky shoreline in the Marathon area of north-east Attica, about 45 km from Athens, beyond the end of the long sandy beach of Schinias. Where Schinias is a busy, organised sand beach backed by the pine forest of the Schinias–Marathon National Park, Dikastika is a series of rock platforms and small inlets with very clear water and no facilities. Athens media list it among the places in Attica where people swim nude, with the caveat that it is not exclusively a nudist beach: the most secluded corners are where nude bathers go, and there is enough space along the rocks that clothed and nude visitors rarely bother each other. Expect to lie on rock, so bring a mat, water shoes and shade. Information online is sparse, so details below are limited.

Getting there

Drive from Athens towards Marathon and follow signs for Schinias; continue to the far end of Schinias beach and walk on along the rocky coast. Access roads through the national park forest have had traffic restrictions in recent summers, so expect to park at designated areas and walk. Buses from Athens run to Marathon/Schinias in summer. Footing on the rocks is uneven; not suitable for wheelchairs.

Legal context

Greece permits nudity formally only at licensed naturist establishments; elsewhere it can fall under the penal provision on indecent acts causing scandal, though police usually warn first (LiFO, 2022). Schinias is a national park with its own rules on vehicles and camping.

Naturism at Dicastica sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
