About Delavoyas Beach

Delavoyas, also called Aneroussa beach after the hotel above it, is a small beach on the west coast of Andros about 1 km north of the resort village of Batsi. It is one of a short string of coves north of Batsi: first stony Stivari with its rock pool, then Delavoyas, with a sandy sea floor and clear water that is good for snorkelling. Hotels and pensions, including the Aneroussa Beach Hotel a few steps away, sit on the slope above, so it is not remote, but it is much quieter than Batsi's organised family beach. Delavoyas has a long reputation as the place on Andros where people swim nude; a gay travel guide describes nudity as widely practised there, while beach directories say naturist use is historical and its current extent varies. Expect a mixed crowd and choose a spot away from hotel guests if you want to undress. Bring what you need: there are no organised facilities on the beach itself.

Getting there

From Batsi, follow the coast road north towards Gavrio for about 1 km and turn down towards the Aneroussa Beach Hotel; the beach lies just below it. It is also an easy walk from Batsi along the coast, passing Stivari beach. Buses between Gavrio, Batsi and Chora stop on the main road above. Parking is limited to roadside spaces near the hotels. The final approach is down a slope or steps, not suitable for wheelchairs.

What visitors say

There is little recent visitor feedback specific to nudity. Travel guides describe a pleasant, clear-water cove close to Batsi, good for snorkelling and quieter than the main beach. Naturist-oriented sources say Delavoyas was long the island's nude spot but that the proportion of nude bathers now varies, so do not expect a dedicated naturist crowd.

Legal context

No designation exists; Greece formally permits nudity only at licensed naturist establishments, though discreet nude bathing on quieter beaches is widely tolerated and police usually act only on complaints (2026). Be discreet given the hotels overlooking the beach.

Naturism at Delavoyas Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
