About Dafnoudi Beach

Dafnoudi is a small, secluded cove on the north-east tip of Kefalonia, a few kilometres from Fiskardo near the village of Antipata. It lies at the foot of a steep, wooded valley, and the walk down ends dramatically as the path leaves the trees and opens onto the bay. The beach is made of fairly large white pebbles that are uncomfortable to lie on, so a mat or air bed helps. The water is calm and turquoise, looking across the strait towards Ithaca, and there is a small cool sea cave at the water's edge with its own tiny beach inside. Pines shade the upper part of the beach early and late in the day, but at midday shade is scarce. There are no facilities and no development, and the beach is often almost silent. It is popular with naturists and appears on naturist holiday guides, but it is shared with clothed visitors, including Greek families, so nude bathers are asked to be discreet and keep to the ends.

Getting there

By car from Fiskardo, head towards Argostoli and then Antipata; just before the church in Antipata, take the first right and follow the road down to the beach sign. There is room to park along the road. From there a footpath descends through the valley to the beach in about 10 minutes (the climb back takes a little longer). Walkers can also come from Fiskardo on a footpath through old olive groves, about 20 minutes. Not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. There is no bus to the beach.

What visitors say

Visitors consistently call Dafnoudi one of the most beautiful and quiet coves in north Kefalonia, praising the clear water, the valley walk and the absence of crowds. Common tips: bring an umbrella because midday shade is limited, a mat for the big pebbles, and all food and water. Naturists say nudity is usual but mixed with textile visitors, and local sources ask nude bathers to be discreet around Greek families.
