About Plage naturiste de Choiseau

Plage de Choiseau, also spelled Choizeau, is a small sandy cove on the Côte de Jade at Préfailles, at the tip of the Pointe Saint-Gildas on the south side of the Loire estuary in Loire-Atlantique. It is wedged between two low cliffs and two relatively steep slopes, between the Port aux Goths and Portmain, and is about 120 m long. The commune authorised naturism on the beach in June 2002, and the naturist zone is marked by signs. There are no facilities on the beach. Because of the difficult access it stays relatively quiet. The Atlantic water is cool, and currents can be strong near the rocks and groynes, so check conditions and tide times before swimming.

Getting there

Park in Préfailles near the Port aux Goths or along the coast road towards Portmain, and follow the coastal footpath (sentier côtier) to the beach. The final descent is down one of two fairly steep slopes, which can be slippery; it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. There are no toilets or shops at the beach, so bring water. Check tide times before going.

What visitors say

The few accounts describe a charming, secluded little cove between two cliffs, used by a small number of naturists. People mention the steep slopes down to the sand as the main drawback. We found few detailed reviews.
