About Capo di Feno

Capo di Feno is a wild bay on the west coast of Corsica, north of the Îles Sanguinaires and about 20 minutes by road from central Ajaccio. Maquis-covered hills enclose it, with no development beyond a straw-hut snack bar. It has two beaches: the main Grand Capo, roughly a kilometre of fine pale sand, and the smaller, quieter Petit Capo (Sevani) just to the north. Nude bathing takes place on part of Grand Capo. Guides consistently place the naturist zone at the far left (southern) end as you face the sea, so walk that way from the car park. Families with children should bear that in mind before heading there. The bay faces the open sea and is one of the best-known surf spots around Ajaccio. That means real waves and strong currents, and in heavy swell swimming is dangerous, particularly for children. On calm summer days the water is clear and the beach feels much emptier than the town beaches along the Route des Sanguinaires.

Getting there

From Ajaccio, follow the Route des Sanguinaires, then turn onto the D111B and follow it down to the bay, about 20 minutes by car. There is a car park next to the beach. From there, walk left along the sand to the southern end for the naturist zone. Muvistrada bus line 5 is reported to stop at Capo di Feno in summer. Hikers can also walk in from the Sanguinaires in about two and a half hours. The beach is soft sand, with no wheelchair access to the naturist end.

What visitors say

Guides and travel blogs describe Capo di Feno as one of the most beautiful wild beaches near Ajaccio, with fine sand and few buildings. They note that the naturist area at the southern end is relaxed and well established. The recurring warnings are about the sea: rollers and strong currents make swimming risky on swell days, and there is no confirmed lifeguard. Some recommend the smaller Petit Capo for a calmer beach, and families are advised to avoid the naturist end.
