About Cap Taillat
Cap Taillat is a small wooded headland on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, joined to the mainland by a narrow sand isthmus, on the boundary between Ramatuelle and La Croix-Valmer. The site has been protected since 1993 and is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, so there are no buildings, and the only way in is on foot along the coastal path or by boat. The isthmus has fine sand on one side and pebbles on the other, with Posidonia seagrass banks left on the shore that can smell in midsummer. Nude bathing here is a tolerated habit rather than an authorisation: one guide states that the Cap Taillat beach itself is officially off limits to naturists, and visitor comments report that naturism was tolerated on the Ramatuelle side but not on the La Croix-Valmer side, with police asking people to dress in 2015. Most nude bathers now use the small discreet coves along the path either side of the cape rather than the main isthmus beach, which is very busy with walkers, swimmers and anchored boats in summer.
Getting there
Park at the end of the road to L'Escalet beach in Ramatuelle; there is a paid car park in summer and some free roadside spaces. Follow the coastal path (sentier du littoral) west for about 35 minutes over rocky, uneven ground to the cape. From the La Croix-Valmer side, the path from Gigaro passes Briande beach. There is no road access, no shade on the path in places, and the route is unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
What visitors say
Walkers praise the setting and water but describe the isthmus beach as crowded in high season, with Posidonia on the sand. Reports on nudity conflict: some found many naturists in the coves, others found no room for them on the main beach and police intervention at the west end. The consensus is to use the small coves along the path on quieter days and to bring water, as there are no services.

Legal context
Cap Taillat is not an authorised naturist beach; one guide says the main beach is officially closed to naturists, and visitor reports describe police asking nude bathers to dress (2015). Ramatuelle's authorised naturist zones are on Pampelonne. In France simple nudity is lawful only where it is authorised or customary; elsewhere it can be prosecuted as sexual exhibition (Code pénal art. 222-32) or breach a municipal order.
Naturism at Cap Taillat sits under France's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
