About Beach Megali Petra
Megali Petra ('big rock') is a stretch of the long west coast of Lefkada, about 4 km below the village of Kalamitsi and 23 km from Lefkada Town, named after the large boulders that stand on the shore and in the water and divide it into sections. It lies just south of Kavalikefta beach, from which it is reached on foot, and the effort of getting there means it is rarely busy. The shore is white pebbles and coarse sand with deep, very clear blue water that drops off quickly, as along all of this coast. Guides note that naturists are usually found on the southern side of Megali Petra, beyond the big rocks, where the beach is out of sight of the Kavalikefta end. There are no sunbeds, umbrellas or toilets on the nude stretch and no natural shade, so bring everything; Kavalikefta has a restaurant, toilet and sunbed rental. The beach faces west and is known for its sunsets. Like the rest of this exposed west coast, it can get wavy on windy days.
Getting there
From Lefkada Town drive south toward Kalamitsi and take the turn for Kavalikefta: a very narrow, steep and winding road whose last 100 m are particularly rough. Park in the small private car park at Kavalikefta (arrive early in summer), then walk south along the shore over pebbles and around the rocks to Megali Petra, heading for the southern side for the nude area. Comfortable shoes are advised. No public transport; not wheelchair accessible.
What visitors say
Visitors describe Megali Petra as one of the quieter beaches on Lefkada's busy west coast, thanks to the poor road and the walk from Kavalikefta. The water is praised as exceptionally clear and the sunsets as spectacular. Naturists use the area beyond the big boulders, where few clothed visitors venture. The steep access road and lack of shade or toilets are the main drawbacks.

Amenities
Legal context
Megali Petra has no official nudist designation; guides describe naturists on its southern side as an informal practice. Greece has no national register of designated nudist beaches; nudity is formally sanctioned only at licensed naturist establishments, but on remote or traditionally nude beaches it is widely tolerated, and police generally act only if someone complains.
Naturism at Beach Megali Petra sits under Greece's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
