About Armeos Beach
Armeos is a small cove on the west coast of Syros, just north of the resort of Galissas, below the chapel of Agia Pakou and the scant ruins of ancient Galissos. It is widely known as the island's main nudist beach; one guide calls it Syros' 'unofficially official' nudist beach, and it is used by a mixed straight and gay crowd. The shore is pebbles with some patches of sand in the water, and the cove is sheltered from bigger waves, making the water good for swimming. There are no facilities at all: no tavernas, sunbeds or toilets on the beach, and shade is limited, so everything has to be carried from Galissas. Wild camping has traditionally taken place here. As a beach it is fairly plain, but the setting, with the headland and views back over Galissas bay, is attractive, and it stays much quieter than Galissas' sandy main beach. The resort, with shops, cafés and buses, is a short walk back along the coast.
Getting there
Drive or take the bus from Ermoupoli to Galissas (about 7 km). From the small marina at Galissas, follow the coastal footpath north around the headland to Armeos; it is a short walk but on a rough path, so wear proper shoes. There is no road access to the beach itself; parking is in Galissas. Not wheelchair accessible.
What visitors say
Visitors describe Armeos as the place to go nude on Syros: quiet, with clear sheltered water and a mixed straight and gay crowd. It is a plain pebble cove with no services, and some note that the setting is better than the beach itself. Bring water, food and shade from Galissas.

Amenities
Legal context
Armeos has no official designation but is described by travel guides as Syros' de facto nudist beach. Greece has no national register of designated nudist beaches; nudity is formally sanctioned only at licensed naturist establishments, but on remote or traditionally nude beaches it is widely tolerated, and police generally act only if someone complains.
Naturism at Armeos Beach sits under Greece's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
