About Antisamos Beach
Antisamos is a sheltered bay on the east coast of Kefalonia, about 4 km from the port of Sami and roughly 30 km from Argostoli. Steep, forested hills drop straight into a curve of small white pebbles, and the water is a bright turquoise that made the beach a location for the film Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Most of the beach is organised: three beach bars rent loungers over half or more of the shore, there are showers and changing cabins, and pedal boats, jet skis and paddleboards are available. It gets crowded in July and August. Nude bathing is a minority activity confined to the quiet, unorganised end: guides describe nudists on the right-hand side away from the sunbeds, and a secluded little bay reached by walking to the far end and crossing a small creek. Elsewhere on the beach swimwear is expected, so keep to that end. Because the cove is sheltered and the shore shelves quickly, it is good for swimming and snorkelling when the sea is calm; bring your own shade if you skip the bars.
Getting there
From Sami, follow the signposted road east over the hill; it is paved but winding. A large car park sits directly behind the beach. Most visitors drive or take a taxi from Sami; there is no confirmed regular bus to the beach. From the car park, walk to the far end beyond the last sunbeds and cross the small creek for the quieter nude area; the pebbles are steep and uneven.
What visitors say
Visitors praise the colour of the water and the setting, but the main beach is busy and commercial in high season, with music from the beach bars and many day-trippers from Sami. Nudists are only occasionally present and keep to the quieter unorganised end past the creek, so guides advise families and textile visitors to be aware of this in advance. The pebbles are large and slope steeply, so water shoes and a mat help.

Legal context
Greece has no national list of designated nude beaches; public nudity can in principle be prosecuted under Penal Code article 353 (indecent acts causing public offence), and a 2022 Lifo article notes the law only clearly allows nudity at recognised naturist sites. In practice nude bathing on secluded beaches is tolerated and police usually start with a warning; no local ordinance or enforcement specific to this beach was found (2026).
Naturism at Antisamos Beach sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
