About Ag Ioannis
A tiny, secluded pebble cove of about 55 metres below the Agios Ioannis Eleimonas monastery in south-west Samos, inside a Natura 2000 protected area. Reaching it takes a dirt road and a short walk, so it rarely sees crowds, and local listings say visitors dress or undress as they please. There are no facilities apart from a drinking-water fountain at the monastery. The sheltered bay usually has calm, very clear water. Few sources confirm regular nude use, so expect to find the place empty or with a mixed group.
Getting there
From Kampos Marathokampou drive west about 10 km to Kallithea, then 1.6 km south towards Paleochori. At the crossroads take the dirt road south-east for 2.4 km to its end (free parking), then walk about 150 m.

Legal context
Lies within Natura 2000 site GR4120008, and it is next to a working monastery, so be discreet. Greece has no national register of designated nudist beaches; nudity is formally sanctioned only at licensed naturist establishments, but on remote or traditionally nude beaches it is widely tolerated, and police generally act only if someone complains.
Naturism at Ag Ioannis sits under Greece's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
