About Costa Natura

Costa Natura is a naturist apartment resort on the western edge of Estepona on the Costa del Sol, opened in 1979 and widely described as Spain's first naturist resort. It is run as a community by the Asociacion Naturista Costa Natura. The complex is built in the style of a white Andalusian village, with more than 190 apartments and studios from about 18 to 56 square metres, each with a private terrace, some owned privately and many let to holidaymakers. The centre of resort life is a 22-metre heated pool kept at around 30C all year, with a smaller children's pool, set among gardens of palms and Mediterranean plants. There is also a sauna and jacuzzi, a gym, and The Brasserie restaurant beside the pool serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Classes such as aqua aerobics and Pilates run in season. The resort fronts directly onto the sea; the strip of beach in front of the complex is naturist, and is narrow and pebbly. Nudity is the norm inside the resort, which welcomes couples and families. It is open year-round.

Legal context & local rules

Nudity is lawful on the private resort grounds, and Spanish law does not prohibit public nudity in general. In 2021 a beach bar on the adjoining beach tried to bar naturists from its sunbeds, prompting a petition by resort residents.

Spain's legal framework for nudity is complex and regionally variable. Some interpretations suggest public nudity is constitutionally protected as part of personal development rights (Spanish Constitution). However, most regional autonomous communities and cities impose restrictions through local ordinances. Urban areas typically prohibit public nudity (Barcelona fines 300-500 EUR), while beaches are generally permissive. Federación Española de Naturismo (FEN) confirms legal naturism in designated beach areas. The Spanish Supreme Court (2023) ruled that mandatory nudity policies at private facilities are discriminatory but did not alter public space rules.

Getting there and visiting

Costa Natura is on the A-7 coast road at km 151, on the western edge of Estepona and within reach of Malaga, Ronda and Granada by car. Coastal buses run along the A-7, but a car is the easiest way to get here; reviewers say on-site parking is free but limited. Stays are booked online through the resort's website by date and number of adults and children; the price list is published there (rates vary by apartment size and season, with discounts on some autumn dates in 2026). Tourism guides mention day passes, but check with the resort first (info@costanatura.com, +34 952 80 80 65). Community rules apply on site.

Before you go

  • 1 Check the current local rules and access conditions before travelling.
  • 2 Bring a towel and sit on it when using shared seating.
  • 3 Never take photographs of other people without clear consent.
  • 4 Respect the venue’s clothing, privacy, and behaviour rules.

Aigües Blanques

Aigües Blanques (Aguas Blancas, listed by the Consell d'Eivissa as S'Aigua Blanca) is a beach of about 300 m on the north-east coast of Ibiza in Santa Eulària des Riu, below the village of Sant Carles de Peralta. It is the best-known nude beach in the north-east of the island. High clay cliffs ring the bay, and the sand is noticeably darker than on Ibiza's other nude beaches. The cliffs also put the beach in shade in the afternoon: direct sun is best from about 10:00 to 14:00. Nudity is traditional across the beach, but not universal. Guides say naturists tend to gather towards the ends, while clothed visitors cluster near the access point and the two beach bars. One part of the shore has a clay seam that visitors use for mud baths. In season there are sunbeds, parasols and lifeguards, though services are simpler than at Es Cavallet in the south. The beach faces east and north-east, so levante and gregal winds bring heavy surf. On those days the west-coast coves are calmer. Es Figueral, a separate beach, lies just to the south.

Antuerta

Antuerta is a small cove on the open Cantabrian coast in the municipality of Bareyo, next to the larger Arenal de Cuberris near Ajo, between Santander and Laredo. It is about 100 m long and 40 m wide, with golden sand, and is closed in at both ends by headland, rock and scrub, which keeps it secluded. The beach faces the full Atlantic swell. Conditions are windy with strong waves and currents, and it is a known surf spot. Occupancy is low even in summer. Spain's national tourism portal lists Antuerta as a nudist beach. Another beach database marks it as non-nudist, so expect a mix, with nude use most likely on quiet days and away from the surfers. There are no services beyond bins and regular cleaning, so bring water and shade. Flags warn of hazards, and lifeguard cover is listed in season, but the currents make it a poor choice for weak swimmers or small children.
