About Westsee
The Westsee is one of the Staffelstein lakes, a chain of former gravel pits in the Main valley near Nedensdorf, below the hills of Staffelberg and Banz. It is surrounded by meadows and scrub and is used mainly by anglers, with swimming informal. We found no reliable source describing a nude area here, so treat any naturist use as unofficial, be discreet and check signage, as bathing rules on the individual Staffelstein lakes differ.
Getting there
Near Nedensdorf, Bad Staffelstein (district of Lichtenfels); reached by car or along cycle paths in the Main valley.
Legal context
Public nudity is not a criminal offence in Germany in itself; it can be treated as an administrative offence (Belästigung der Allgemeinheit, §118 OWiG) where it causes public nuisance, and municipalities regulate it locally through beach or bathing bylaws. No designated FKK zone is documented.
Naturism at Westsee sits under Germany's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
