About Weston Mouth
Weston Mouth is a quiet shingle beach on the East Devon stretch of the Jurassic Coast, between Sidmouth and Branscombe, where a wooded valley drops to the sea. The land belongs to the National Trust, which at one time had a sign directing naturists to the right. British Naturism lists it as an unofficial naturist beach with a regular following. Where the valley path meets the beach there is a small clothed section. Most naturists turn right (west, toward Sidmouth); the nude area begins beyond an old stone wall. Turning left (east) leads to a quieter stretch where nude bathers appear after a short walk and continue for a mile or more. The beach is shingle and small pebbles with rock pools, backed by high cliffs, and is rarely crowded. Walking on the pebbles is tiring. There are no facilities of any kind. Recent cliff falls mean you should keep away from the base of the steeper cliffs.
Getting there
Drive east from Sidmouth on the A3052, follow signs for the Donkey Sanctuary and then Weston, and park at the National Trust car park (EX10 0PH); there is overflow parking at a small private car park with an honesty box and at Higher Weston Farm. From the gate, follow the valley path down: about 20 minutes descent and 30 minutes back up, steep and strenuous. Alternatively, walk about a mile east along the shore from Sidmouth over pebbles, tide permitting. Not wheelchair accessible.
