About Veor Cove
Veor Cove is a small, remote cove on the north coast of the Penwith peninsula in West Cornwall, between Zennor and Gurnard's Head. High cliffs surround it and there is no road access, so it sees few visitors; a local Zennor guide describes it as usually very quiet and popular with adventurous swimmers and naturists. The cove lies below the South West Coast Path on the circular walk from Zennor to Gurnard's Head. Naturism here is informal: there is no designated area and, as one naturist guide put it, naturism is not officially recognised anywhere in West Cornwall, which is why secluded coves like this one appeal. We found no detailed current description of the way down to the shore or of conditions on the beach, so treat it as a wild, unserviced cove and judge the descent and the sea for yourself.
Getting there
Walk the South West Coast Path west from Zennor towards Gurnard's Head; Veor Cove lies below the path between the two. There is no road access and no facilities. Any descent to the shore is on rough cliff ground; we found no reliable current description of the path down, so only attempt it in dry conditions with good footwear. Not accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Legal context
Public nudity is not in itself an offence in England and Wales; prosecution under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (s.66) requires intent to cause alarm or distress, and the CPS/College of Policing guidance treats ordinary naturism as lawful. Veor Cove has no designation or signage; nude use is informal and relies on the cove's remoteness.
Naturism at Veor Cove sits under United Kingdom's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
