About Praia da Ursa

Praia da Ursa is a remote beach below the cliffs just north of Cabo da Roca, mainland Europe's westernmost point, in Sintra Natural Park. Huge sea stacks rise from the sand, and getting there means a steep, twisting path of over a kilometre followed by a scramble down the rocks, so bring water and good shoes. Nude sunbathing is common, though it is not an official naturist beach and clothed visitors usually outnumber nudists. The Atlantic swell here can be powerful.

This Portugal naturist beach is a clothing-optional place in a traditionally tolerated setting. Families are welcome.

Legal context

Naturism at Praia da Ursa sits under Portugal's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
