About Trebgastsee
The Badesee Trebgast is a man-made bathing lake on the edge of the village of Trebgast in Upper Franconia, about 10 km north-west of Bayreuth. Work began in 1972 and the lake opened in 1975. It is roughly 680 m long and 220 m wide, about 3.5 m deep on average and 4.5 m at its deepest, and is fed by four springs in the lake bed. A 1.5 km path runs around it, and there is an island in the middle. The official bathing-water profile from the Kulmbach district office lists an FKK beach among the facilities. The others are large lying lawns, a kiosk, pedal-boat hire, a skate area, a shallow-water bank, a non-swimmer zone, a big playground and a beach-volleyball court. The nude area is on the side of the lake away from the main entrance. Visitors say it is not clearly marked off and sits next to the volleyball court, so in practice it is a tolerated corner of lawn rather than a screened enclosure. The lake mainly serves as a family lido, and the water was rated excellent under the EU bathing directive in 2014-2016.
Getting there
The lake is on Lindauer Straße on the edge of Trebgast, reached via the A70 (Bayreuth-Bamberg). A guide gives the address as Lindauer Straße 85, 95367 Trebgast. There is a car park, and visitors say it also has room for motorhomes. During the bathing season admission is charged: a 2017 listing gave €2.50 for adults, €1.50 for young people and free entry for children under six, so check current prices. From the main entrance, follow the footpath along the shore to the far side of the lake for the FKK area. The paths around the lake are level.
What visitors say
Visitors generally like the lake. They praise the location, the low entry price, the kiosk, the big lawn and the water quality, and say parking is adequate. Most complaints concern the FKK area: people find it hard to locate and not marked off, and dislike that it sits beside the volleyball court. Some would like a hedge-screened nude section. Some nude bathers report being told by staff that they are only tolerated. Recent comments are scarce, and some visitors have asked without reply whether the FKK beach is still in use, so expect a small nude crowd.

Legal context
The bathing-water profile issued by the Landratsamt Kulmbach (status July 2017) lists an 'FKK Strand' at the Badesee Trebgast. Visitor comments say the area is not clearly signposted and that staff have called nude bathing there tolerated, so keep to the far-side FKK area. Swimwear is expected elsewhere in the lido (checked 2026).
Naturism at Trebgastsee sits under Germany's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
