About Tollensee - FKK Strand
The FKK bathing spot at Buchort lies on the western shore of the Tollensesee, the long glacial lake that runs south from Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is in the Brodaer Holz, a strip of woodland owned by the city of Neubrandenburg south of the guarded lido at Broda, on the Wulkenzin side of the lake. Neubrandenburg's tourist information names Buchort as the lake's nudist beach, alongside the textile beaches at Broda, Augustabad and Nonnenhof. This is a simple forest bathing place rather than a developed beach: a lying lawn among trees and a short stretch of shore from which you wade into the lake, with no kiosk, no lifeguard and no entry fee. The Tollensesee is about 10 km long and up to 2.5 km wide and reaches around 33 m deep; its water has been rated excellent under EU bathing-water monitoring, though it stays cool into midsummer. The crowd is small and mostly made up of older local regulars plus a few holidaymakers, and the mood is quiet. In winter 2021/22 the city cut back and felled trees around the site for safety reasons, leaving brushwood on the lawn for a time; it said it would clear the debris and restore the bathing spot.
Getting there
Buchort is on the west shore of the Tollensesee, in the Brodaer Holz woods between Neubrandenburg-Broda and Wulkenzin. The 37 km cycle route around the Tollensesee and the Lieps runs along this shore, so cycling or walking from Broda is the easiest way in. The Gatsch Eck campsite is in the same woods. We found no information on a dedicated car park or on bus stops close to the site. Access is free. The last stretch is on unpaved forest paths, so the spot is not suitable for wheelchairs. For step-free lake access, Neubrandenburg's accessible bathing jetty is at Augustabad on the opposite shore.
What visitors say
Press visits describe Buchort as calm and low-key. The regulars are mostly older locals from Neubrandenburg plus some holidaymakers, and there are no rowdy groups. First-timers say the other bathers paid them no attention and the atmosphere was relaxed. The lake water feels cold early in the season. In early 2022 local visitors complained that forestry work had covered the lawn and access path with branches, and the city promised to clear them. There are no facilities, so bring water, food and anything else you need.
