About Taddiford Gap
Taddiford Gap is a half-mile stretch of beach on the Hampshire coast between Milford on Sea and Barton on Sea, below eroding sandy cliffs on the edge of the New Forest. Naturists use the section to the west (right, facing the sea) of the point where the path reaches the beach, and walk along until they find a private spot; the cliff-top coast path overlooks part of the beach, so heading further west gives more seclusion. The upper beach is shingle, becoming a mix of fine shingle and sand towards the water, and it shelves gently with mostly sand underfoot and the odd rock. Low tide exposes much more sand and is the best time to go. It is rarely busy. The cliffs are not especially attractive, but the sea view to the Isle of Wight and the Needles is a highlight. There are no facilities on the beach. The cliffs are unstable and signs at the top say there is no beach access; naturists still use the gap with care, and the local British Naturism region runs occasional beach days here.
Getting there
Pay-and-display car park off the B3058 Milford Road between Milford on Sea and Barton on Sea (SO41 0LJ; card or RingGo). New Forest District Council has marked bays and double yellow lines, so spaces are now limited. Take the narrow path to the coast path, go straight on, then bear diagonally left and descend to the beach; this needs sure footing and grippy shoes. Alternatives: from Barton on Sea (beside the Beachcomber Café, BH25 7DT) walk east round two headlands, or from Hordle Cliff car park (SO41 0NE, toilets and kiosk) about 30 minutes along the cliff top. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
What visitors say
Naturist guides describe it as quiet and rarely busy, with enough room to find a private spot west of the access point, though the cliff-top path overlooks part of the beach. Visitors stress that the descent is a scramble down a crumbling sandy slope, that the beach is much better at low tide, and that you must bring everything because there are no facilities nearby. Reduced parking at the gap is a recent frustration.

Legal context
Public nudity is not in itself an offence in England and Wales; prosecution under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (s.66) requires intent to cause alarm or distress, and the CPS/College of Policing guidance treats ordinary naturism as lawful. Taddiford Gap is not designated; British Naturism lists it as naturist-used. Signs at the top warn of no beach access because of cliff erosion, and parking was restricted by the district council (BN listing update, recent August).
Naturism at Taddiford Gap sits under United Kingdom's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
