About Šventoji naturist beach

Šventoji is the northernmost seaside resort in Lithuania, part of Palanga municipality, close to the Latvian border. Palanga is where Lithuania's first nudist bathing took place, but today the area's nude beach is at Šventoji, on the open Baltic shore to the right of the Šventoji lifeguard station, according to the national tourism board. It is a sandy Baltic beach away from the town centre, and the tourism board lists no facilities for it. Its status has been contested: a Lithuanian report noted that the town had received no formal request to legalise it and that some women using the neighbouring women's beach had complained.

Getting there

Šventoji lies on the coast north of Palanga town and is reached by road from Palanga. The nude section is on the beach to the right of the Šventoji lifeguard station (listed address Ošupio g. 2e, Palanga). Access to the sand is via beach paths over the dunes. Entry is free.

Legal context

The national tourism board lists the Šventoji nudist beach, but a Lithuanian report described it as not formally legalised by the municipality, with complaints from users of the adjacent women's beach. Stay within the customary section near the lifeguard station (checked 2026).

Naturism at Šventoji naturist beach sits under Lithuania's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
