About Stotternheimer See
The Stotternheimer See is one of the flooded gravel pits north of Erfurt known as the Erfurter Seen, and its west shore is taken up by the Strandbad Stotternheim, a fee-paying lake lido run by the city's utility company (SWE Bäder) on behalf of the city. The bath has a broad sand beach, lawns and rentable beach chairs, a guarded swimming area divided into non-swimmer and swimmer sections, a toddler pool with a slide, a playground, beach volleyball, basketball and table tennis, a kiosk and a rentable barbecue spot. The operator advertises a separate, spacious FKK area where you can swim and sunbathe without a costume; one listing puts this section at about 100 m of shoreline, and notes that the toilets, showers and kiosk are in the textile part, so you walk across to use them. Water quality is monitored and the lake has repeatedly been rated excellent under the EU bathing-water rules. The bath is open only in summer and is busy with Erfurt families on hot days.
Getting there
The bath is at Zum Stotternheimer See 19, 99195 Erfurt-Stotternheim. By car follow signs through Stotternheim or leave the A71 at Erfurt-Roter Berg towards Schwerborn; parking for cars, motorbikes and bikes is free. By public transport, on weekdays take tram 5 to Grubenstraße and city bus 31 to Strandbad Stotternheim; at weekends tram 5 to Zoopark and bus 30. Stotternheim railway station is a short walk away. Adult day tickets cost €6.20 in 2026 (reduced €4.80, children €3.20), evening tickets €4.20; beach chairs €6 a day. The operator lists the facilities as barrier-free.
What visitors say
Guides describe a well-kept family lido with clean water, a wide sandy beach and plenty to do for children. The FKK section is described as a roomy, separate strip with good space to lie out, though facilities are all on the textile side. Free parking and the direct bus connection are commonly mentioned as advantages; on summer weekends it gets crowded.
