About Spiaggia di Forza d'Agrò

The naturist beach of Forza d'Agrò lies on the Ionian coast of north-east Sicily, between Taormina and Messina, below the hill town of Forza d'Agrò and close to Sant'Alessio Siculo and the headland of Capo Sant'Alessio. The naturist area is in the locality of Contrada Parrino. Visit Sicily, the Sicilian Region's tourism site, says naturists are welcome here and calls it the first official naturism oasis in Sicily. A beach guide describes a moderate-length beach of fine sand with clear turquoise water that shelves gently, with conditions ranging from calm to choppy; there is a campsite (Forza d'Agrò Mare) on the same stretch of coast. There are no permanent services on the naturist shore itself, so visitors bring their own water, food and shade. The atmosphere is described as calm and respectful.

Getting there

Drive along the SS114 coast road between Taormina and Messina to Sant'Alessio Siculo / Forza d'Agrò Marina, then follow the local road to the parking area at the end of the access road near the beach; in high season arrive before about 10:00. There is no direct bus to the beach, though coastal buses and the Messina-Catania railway serve the area. Access is over sand, with no adapted access for reduced mobility.

Legal context

Visit Sicily (Regione Siciliana tourism department) describes the Forza d'Agrò beach in Contrada Parrino as the first official naturism oasis in Sicily (page seen 2026). We did not find the municipal ordinance itself. Nearby beaches outside the oasis are textile, and police have fined nude bathers elsewhere in the province of Messina (Capo Rasocolmo, 2021).

Naturism at Spiaggia di Forza d'Agrò sits under Italy's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.

Full country law: Italy public nudity guide.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
