About Spiaggia di Feraxi

Feraxi is a long sandy beach in Muravera, in south-east Sardinia (province of Sud Sardegna), just north of Costa Rei and the headland of Capo Ferrato. It runs for about 3 km in front of the Feraxi lagoon, part of the protected wetland of the Stagni di Colostrai e delle Saline, where flamingos, cormorants and black-winged stilts feed. The sand is wide and pale, and the water is clear, turquoise and shallow for some distance, which makes it easy for swimming. In June 2022 Muravera council approved a naturist stretch of about 400 metres at the southern end of the beach, running up to the Capo Ferrato promontory; it was reported as the fourth naturist beach in Sardinia and the first on the east coast. The naturist stretch is marked by signs but not fenced, and the rest of the beach remains an ordinary public beach with a kiosk, bars and sunbed and umbrella rental. FENAIT, the Italian naturist federation, lists Feraxi among its naturist places.

Getting there

Feraxi is a few kilometres from Muravera and is also reached from Cagliari along the SS125var (about an hour by car). The final approach is an unpaved road to parking near the beach; a paid parking area operates in summer. Walk south along the sand towards Capo Ferrato to reach the signed naturist stretch. There is no useful public transport to the beach. Soft sand and dirt tracks make access difficult for wheelchairs.

Legal context

Muravera municipal council approved a naturist area of about 400 m at Feraxi, up to the Capo Ferrato headland, by resolution in June 2022, as reported by AGI; the stretch is signposted but open to all. FENAIT lists it among its naturist places. A spiagge.it article still describes it as unofficial and warns of possible fines, so check the current signage on arrival.

Naturism at Spiaggia di Feraxi sits under Italy's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
