About Siete Playas
Siete Playas (Zazpi Hondartzak, 'Seven Beaches') is a chain of small coves at the foot of steep cliffs between Punta Kardala and Saturraran in Mutriku, on the western edge of Gipuzkoa. It lies within the Basque Coast Geopark, famous for its tilted flysch rock strata. The shore is made of boulders, rock platforms and gravel rather than sand, with strong surf and wind and few visitors. The coves can only be reached along the shore at low tide, which keeps them secluded and is why naturists use them. There are no services of any kind. The isolation is also the danger: the coast is a dead end under cliffs, and a rising tide can cut you off.
Getting there
Park at Saturraran beach (between Mutriku and Ondarroa), which has a car park, and walk east along the shore at low tide. Check tide tables carefully and allow time to get back before the water rises; there is no other way out. Interurban buses pass within about 600 m. Not suitable for wheelchairs or small children.
Legal context
Spain has no national law against public nudity. Siete Playas is listed by FEN as a nudist-tradition beach inside the Basque Coast Geopark; no local ban (checked 2026).
Naturism at Siete Playas sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
