About Ses Illetes Naturist Area
Ses Illetes is the famous white-sand beach on the west side of the Es Trucadors peninsula, the narrow finger of land at Formentera's northern tip inside the Ses Salines Natural Park, facing the islets and the island of s'Espalmador. Its shallow turquoise water over sand and Posidonia meadows makes it the island's best-known postcard beach and a magnet for day-trippers. Nude bathing has long been accepted along this coast, but naturist guides say Ses Illetes becomes predominantly clothed in high season. Nudity is far more common in two places: towards the very tip of the peninsula at Es Trucadors, a strip of sand reached only on foot where naturism is the norm, and on Platja de Llevant on the opposite, east side of the spit, which is quieter, windier and described by the Balearic tourism board as a place to swim nude. The two coasts are so close in places that you can cross from one to the other in minutes.
Getting there
From La Savina follow the signed road north into the Ses Salines Natural Park (about 4 km). Petrol cars and motorbikes pay a toll at the start of the access road; walkers, cyclists and electric vehicles do not. Ses Illetes and Llevant share a car park, which fills in summer. For the nude areas, walk north along the sand from Ses Illetes towards Es Trucadors, or cross the spit to Llevant. Do not try to wade across to s'Espalmador: the currents are strong and crossing on foot is forbidden.
